I buy my previously viewed Blu-Rays from Blockbuster. It's a hell of a lot cheaper.

Rogers Video are the real bad guys here. It's like $10 for a 1 day new movie rental! No thanks. I'll go to a locally owned place and pay the $4 for it.

Rogers isn't $10 but it is pretty expensive. Close to $6 for a day I think.
Blockbuster isn't too bad, I think $4 for two nights which is plenty for me.
It's not like I can't download movies, but I like browsing through the store and reading the backs of the boxes to figure out what I want to watch |

lots of video rental stores here in maple ridge though, i dont think they're suffering, even a local mom n pop store has been open for a decade plus, they've downsized somewhat but they're still there

exaggerate much?
but hell i think i spend around $50 bux renting movies...god damn rogers/blockbuster. Renting dvds should be more like $2.50 or no more than $3 dollars. FUck DVD costs wat? $$20 dollars after taxes or not even? and charging $5-6 dollars to rent for ONE NIGHT jesus christ.
Fuck even blue rays only costs $20-30 dollar to buy, DVD should be wiped out fairly soon yet they have the balls to charge so much. |

DVDs will stay put for awhile. Most of us haven't made the transition to Blue Ray nor have the TV sets (720p or better) to take advantage of it yet.

dvds will always be around because not everyone is into high def. Until another format comes out then people will keep buying normal dvds if they dont give a shit about hi def

think about it DVDs have only recently surpassed VHS's and not 2 mins after that Blu-Rays were introduced so its going to be a long time before blu-rays surpass DVDs (although i think they're something like 20% of the way so far so its actually been fairly fast)
anyhow i dont see rental stores disappearing for a long time especially mom and pop rental stores, they'll likely last longer and be more profitable then places like Rogers and Blockbusters

thats fine, but the cost of DVD is next to nothing. yet they are over charging people for a simple 1-2 night rental

moms and pops stores are making good money because they charge maybe 1/2 of what the retail chains are charging. Big corporations will go down |

I still rent. Gotta support watching the movies you love or else it would just die like the HK movie industry.

There's this place in delta that charges $3.00 for a new rental or 2 for $5. Used to rent movies there when I was with my ex like 9 years ago |
