Looking to buy a genesis 2.0T

are there any owners out there that can tell me how the car is? Ive read lots of reviews but i would like to hear someone's first hand experience.
1) Hows the fuel mileage and how much does it cost to fill up?
2) Hows the fun to drive factor compared to other cars in its class?
3) I heard the clutch is its one fall back how do you find the clutch?
4) hows the maintenance?
5) were you able to bargain anything at the dealership?

and any other things I should be looking out for would be greatly appreciated thanks

Fuel mileage is great or shitty, depending on how fast you drive. I burned 1/8 of a tank doing 7 autox runs today, but averaged 8.8 L/100 on the drive home. over all I'd consider it very good.

Fun to drive? It's RWD and turbo, the track model has an LSD and brembos. If I need to say more, you may as well buy a civic SI.

Clutch is fine, no problems with it at all. transmission isn't great when cold, but that's probably an issue with my transmission, not all of them.

maintenence is too early to tell. The thing is gonna be easy to work on, things like the fuel pump being a 15 minute job from under the rear seat, oil changes easy as hell, filter being beside the drain and no plastic covering it.

as for a deal, I got the first one in BC so they weren't really moving on price at all. I've heard about some people in bc getting lowered finance rates (down from 2.6% that I paid)

I got mine from the northshore automall and dealt with trevor, I'd highly reccomend the dealership, and i think they have 5 or 6 on the lor right now, not sure on 2.0T 6 speeds though.

as for other problems, it's not a Camaro, there's only a few common issues and they should be fixed by now with the newer build dates.

Best advice would be to go try one out and see how you like it

I've driven my Friends, He has a white one with the Eibach springs, its quite fun to drive, his range is pretty good for gas,

as for filling up, it all depends if you want to get 94 or 91.. it would cost around 60 - 70 bucks.

One thing i dont like is the Drive by wire.

the North Shore location has about 3, they have a nice black one there right now.

Speaker system is prety good too

any pic of the car at autox???

ilvtofu 09-21-2009 07:45 AM

Dealer gave me a $3500 discount before I even asked on the base 2.0T for financing
Too bad I'm broke :haha:

I have a tough time picking which model, I was thinking either the base which is 6k cheaper or the GT 2.0T which is $$$ and into wrx territory, although if the same discount is offered the GT or w/e it's called could be very competitive

You could, but it probably run like crap and not something you want to do all the time.

hud 91gt 09-21-2009 11:12 AM

Genesis was meant to run on 87. Your are WRONG! Sorry had to.

Ya its pretty rare to see any performance car use 87. But apparently Hyundai's ECU can handle 87 regularly heh.

Thats because it's got low standards, like a fat chick.

Hrmm...I guess all Vancouver Genesis owners are using 91+ Octane? Cause in Vancouver fat chicks even have high standards!

datoad 09-21-2009 04:00 PM

Ive also driven a friends for a day, he has a 3.8L with just about all the options except the track package I believe so no brembos. I really liked the exterior of the car and the interior is very nice for its price too. One thing I noticed when driving it was that the transmission feels very notchy and wasn't smooth. Im not sure if its only his car or all of them are like that.

k20a 09-21-2009 04:32 PM

Have you driven another RWD car that's standard before? lol

1990TSI 09-21-2009 04:47 PM

Car runs on 87, that's all I put in it, unless I'm doing a rockstar up to kelowna or a race event it gets 94 for a full tank before the trip and a full tank for the trip, so the ECU has ample time to figure it out.

I can't feel a difference with the 94 over 87, not like the free wastegate mod, that's good for 10hp-12tq and it's noticable with 87.

If you guys wanna guess at stuff and throw grade 4 insults, there's a thread full of it called SI or Genesis.

This guy is looking for real world experience

Yes but what does that have to do with the tranny feeling notchy.

3seriesBeeM 09-21-2009 08:39 PM
