| Everyone's nightmare: Nail in semi-new tires.
So I bought a set of tires (Potenza RE040) in April. Yesterday when I was doing my brakes, I noticed that there's a nail in the tread.
These are Z rated tires. My friend told me because it is Z rated, they are harder to patch up. Something about patching it from the inside?
Is this true? What should I do?

go to the tire shop that you bought them from and ask if they have a road hazard warranty. That covers things like nails in tires and you don't have to pay for the labor. Best patch is to do it from the inside.

Take them back to where you bought them and they are usually covered by the shop's warranty.
It is the advantage of buying tires locally (vs going to Tirerack).

Patching it from the inside is the best way of repairing any tire. My fiance got a nail in one of tires on her MR2 Spyder, and I took it to my local tire shop just last week where they charged $22 to fix it.

if you are anal, get a patch plug, it literally looks like an engine valve, but is a patch with a center piece which u pull out from the inside of the tire. u get the best of both a tire patch, and a tire plug do.  | |
