Proactiv works just fine for me and I dont have to buy it that often. As a matter of fact I dont think I've had to buy any for the past 6 months or so. I moved down to using it once a day just before bed. I get the odd pimple here and there but never get breakouts

Some of the advice on here..

If you want something to apply onto the pimple, your best bet is something that kills the bacteria (benzoyl peroxide or antibiotics like clindamycin) or topical retinoids.

MR_BIGGS 10-07-2009 02:04 PM

Ya what D1 said. You want to dry the pimple essentially. Proactive will do that, but also you should drink lots of water, and eat vegetables and fruit. Your diet can also make you break out.

i'm tempted to try that perfect skin but i need more feedback

i have terrible acne skin as well, i use clearasil 10% bp combined with aveno moisturizer
i've tried everything including proactiv (which is just a scam, they use the lowest percentage of bp)

teddyah 10-07-2009 05:10 PM

why don't you guys try and detox ??????????????

based on the reviews ive heard from others, and my own experience.. id have to say it works very well.. you also need to drink adaquete amounts of water each day.. take 2 pills a day for the first couple of months.. then take 1 a day and that should be enough.

You gotta keep in mind more isnt better.. thats like saying instead of using only 10% BP, why not go for some 100% shit? .. doesnt quite cut it ..

I remember when I was 15 my doctor gave me some acne pills that came in a booklet. It was like a 90 day cycle but I only used them for a month because they had major side effects so my suggestion to the OP is to be very careful about taking any sort of medication for your problem. If you do, make sure you know what the side effects are.

Accutane! I used that shit and goDDAMN it worked awesome. My mom was really worried seeing as how one of the side effects can be suicidal depression, but I'd never been happier in my life!

It is typically placed over the affected areas in gel or cream form, in concentrations of 2.5% increasing through the usually effective 5% to up to 10%. Research suggests that 5 and 10% concentrations are not significantly more effective than 2.5% and 2.5% is usually better tolerated.

There are many ways that can help you to get rid or at least reduce your acne.
Anyhow, you must remember that most skin impurities are due to clogged pores, so the best way to reduce your acne is to unclog your pores.

Here are 5 Steps to unclog your pores that can be helpful for acne:

1,Don't use oil-based products such as facial lotions, wash and cosmetics. Look for products that are non-comedogenic, it means it will not clog your pores.

2.Do not wear tight headbands, baseball hats, and/or helmets when you exercise or play sports, and also be sure that you wash the sweat-soaked things each time you wear them.

3.Keep the skin hydrated and moist so your cells can function properly. Moisturize your face with mild, non-comedogenic moisturizers to keep it hydrated. Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on your face after cleansing.

4.Use toner or skin conditioner on cotton balls to clean your pores. Do not try to scrub harshly or you will strip and damage your skin. Even after rinsing your face, if you do not remove the remainder of cleanser and loosened debris residues, you are only going to imbed that debris deeper into the pores as you layer serums and moisturizers on top. The absolute best way to perform this deep pore cleansing is with a salicylic acid toner or skin conditioner on cotton balls. You don't need to harm your skin by vigorous scrubbing or harsh treatments, simply wipe with toner damp cotton balls until the last cotton comes away totally white.

5.Astringents, Salicylic Acid, retinoic acids, and glycolic acids all work to prevent pores from clogging. Be aware of some active ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, these ingredients can cause major side effects.

These were helpful for me when I tried to get rid of my acne

Yah, it was Accutane and I'm not going to lie, the stuff worked miracles for me and I only did half the cycle. I didn't have any acne issues throughout HS and still don't have any acne issues, hell I can't even the last time I broke out.

SkippyLang 02-04-2012 10:40 PM

Has anyone tried bp lotion?

lowda9 02-04-2012 11:32 PM

I had really bad acne when I was younger and the dermatologist had me take acutane. Its a very powerful drug and I beleive i took it over a course of a year and over that time they keep you closely monitored to ensure everythings ok. But what it does is it permanently reduces oil production. I havent had a break out, maybe just a pimple once in a few months since i finished treatment 5 years ago.

iam_dan 02-04-2012 11:58 PM

i had bad acne for awhile, and during one summer, i made a visit to asia during the summer.
intense heat there, so i kept hydrated with water continuously. after about 3 weeks, my skin was amazing. having a lot of water helps for sure

since proactiv worked well for you, if you lay it out, its under a dollar a day. thats a pretty good deal for clear skin if you ask me.

Okami 02-05-2012 12:31 AM

careful what products you use..

I have been using cliniques acne line for about 2 years now.. and it controlled my acne but I still had really oily skin so i decided to try something else..

i went to khiels and tried their acne line since they have a 28 day no questions money back guarantee..

after about 2 weeks my face exploded.. i got freaked out and went back into the store and they told me that that's supposed to happen.. keep using it for another 2 weeks and you should see improvement.. so i did.. after a week it got 3 times worse..

by now i look like one of those guys that need accutane.. so i was like fuck it and got a refund..

after i went back to clinique but it was no use.. now i have to use anti biotics and prescription cream and even after 2 weeks my face still looks like shit because of all the red marks left over..

just a warning =P if its gets worse dont keep going even if they tell you to XD

K-bad 02-05-2012 12:45 AM

Ever since I started clinique's acne line my skin has been pretty controlled, before that it was pretty bad.

see.lai 02-05-2012 05:29 PM

I'm almost done my first month of accutane, again. 40mg though

trancehead 02-05-2012 10:11 PM

my chest is starting to developt acne :( right inbetween where the pectorials meet basically

jack3d 02-05-2012 11:08 PM

doxycycline worked for me. you have to get it from your doc. its a pill you take once a day after a meal. was on it for 2 months and cleared up.. now i've changed up my diet. cut out the soda pops, fast digesting carbs, oily foods. been eating meat and slow digesting carbs, man has it done wonders. had the worst acne for like 2 years. can still have the occasional cheat meal, no harm done

FatalCloud 03-03-2012 09:00 AM

i've tried numerous cleansers, antibiotics, creams, BP, name it, i did it. nothing worked for me except Accutane. Accutane 20mg (low dosage is good), been taking it for 3 months now, the last 3 weeks i have been 100% clear. and i was leery of the side effects but i have been getting none except the last two weeks i notice i'm getting nosebleeds. Anybody else experience this on Accutane?

not bad nosebleeds where blood is flowing out, but when i'm cleaning my nose, the tissue or whatever has blood on it. nose dryness? how can you moisturize the nose lol?

yup I have the same "issue" but I'm on a 80mg/day dosage (not some low pussy dose:troll:)

but drink a lot of water, when I say a lot you should be pissing at least every 2 hours...I have this 2.2L(8 glasses) bottle I fill up about twice a day...the nosebleeds still occur but not as often.

I too also tried all the other things you mentioned, the last of my Accutane pills run out today :) Some of the side effects I experienced was dry itchy skin, but keep mind my dosage was for 6 months. Also dry lips was also another issue so be ready for that; and lastly dry skin. I have really bad dry skin where I am constantly scratching my back, stomach, legs, and it has even caused dandruff in my scalp. So get a good moisturizing cream, not a lotion but a cream, to help with that.

Ri2 03-03-2012 12:04 PM

i have really sensitive skin so astringents/toners burn my skin like battery acid.
i've always done really well using a simple cleanser like Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser if i have it. i do fine using regular bar soap as well.
when i breakout, i clean it with tea tree oil or a little bit of rubbing alcohol/hydrogen peroxide then i use toothpaste on them. pop a couple ibuprofen's if it's a painful one and i'm usually set. for scars, i used to use tea tree oil night moisturizer and vitamin E serum from the body shop. before i had the $ to get that, i used to prick holes in vit. E capsules and dot the oil on my skin.

if in the event that toothpaste doesn't work, i will be trying an aspirin mask.

BaBiE_Bee 03-06-2012 08:44 AM

I use this from time to time:

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cream: Skin Care: allure.com

You literally squeeze out a pea-sized dot and it will be enough for your whole face, I broke out like crazy a few years back and I went to the Shoppers Beauty Bar and the girl suggested this, in a few days my skin cleared up.

I also use this when I need a super deep-clean:

http://www.pharmacyathand.co.uk/gbu0...Wash-Mask.html

It's a normal facewash, but if you leave it on for longer then it hardens and becomes mask-esque for suck up all the oils.

Go to any Shoppers that has a Beauty Bar and ask the girls there for advice, they are really good at what they do and super nice to boot, I've taken my bf and my bro before. :)

Hope this helps!
