Low Tire Pressure Warning Light

so as you guys know, tonight is fuckin cold right. Anyways i was driving just a few minutes ago and my low tire pressure warning light turned on. I kinda paniced and read some stuff online that says sometimes low temperatures can cause this. Is it true? i drove my car earlier today and it was perfectly fine.

Dinan3 09-29-2009 10:01 PM

What car?

LemonH2O 09-29-2009 10:15 PM

Temperature changes can cause the tires to lose a couple PSI's. Just double check your pressures, including your spare depending on what car it is.

For example, all new Toyotas have insanely sensitive sensors, it will turn on even if it drops a couple PSI's, or simply 1 tire is off by a couple than the others. It'll turn itself off when all the PSI's are even.

And check pressure anyways. It shouldn't drop that much, especially when driving.

thats y u shud check your tire pressure b4 driving the car because hot air expand so the reading will b off by a bit

TRDood 09-29-2009 11:24 PM

everytime when my TPMS is on, i ran over a nail or a screw.. so just check that.

!Aznboi128 09-29-2009 11:26 PM

off topic, but tonight's pretty cold, anyone thinking about changing to winters yet?

fuck thats exactly what i was worried about LOL i was on nanaimo and hastings so yeah.. if that happens im gonna be so fucked cause my tires are expensiveeee.

offtopic: yeah it is fuckin cold but i dunno about switching to winters yet

TRDood 09-29-2009 11:41 PM

patching cost $25-35.

so don't worry. unless the puncture is on the sidewall, then you are SOL

blackk 09-29-2009 11:47 PM

haha cool thanks alot for the advice, ill see if the tire pressure light is gone tmr and if not ill bring it in to get a check. is ur Matrix a XR btw?

Hakkaboy 09-30-2009 10:25 AM

ummmm...why don't you just check the tire pressure????

shouldn't that be the first thing you should do? even if you don't have a tire pressure guage, just go to chevron, they don't charge for air and there's at least a guage built in

too soon junior

shantz 09-30-2009 10:55 AM

be sure and check your spare too - the TPMS is also usually calibrated for this.

Low temps cause this by reducing the tires pressure ,so as most have already said, check your pressures. If the light hasn't gone off you are driving around with improper psi and will cause premature tire wear ,lower fuel economy etc...

ilvtofu 09-30-2009 01:44 PM

Does your car say what the cold tire pressure should be? Because my car does, if so check to see if it's too low,

And yeah it's too soon for winters

he is black , so chances are he has chromes. therefore he's a baller, meaning he does not patch ;)

Leopold Stotch 09-30-2009 05:56 PM

i have a g35 too and the light came on once. When the light comes on though, it's normally quite low in pressure.

just check them, it's not a big deal. put them to 35psi.

don't panic when the light stays on, because it takes a bit of driving to reconfigure.

aspenwrx 09-30-2009 07:04 PM

causing TPMS light stay on means your pressure is below 25% of manafactory specific pressure. Must have flat

k20a 09-30-2009 07:15 PM

lol, Make sure you know if your car has "TPMS" and/or "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" which is a ( ! ). Some cars have both, and TPMS light is a way more serious issue than LOW TIRE PRESSURE.

Low Tire Pressure Warning Light comes on:

A) Check your tire pressure
B) Post about it on the internet

Pocakj 09-30-2009 08:56 PM

laang suk yeet jeung.

lol
