2010 Olympic uniform design unveiled

Red and white with black and gray trim, that's the design of the new athlete's uniform for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler.

The design was unveiled this morning at the newly-opened Olympic superstore in downtown Vancouver.

As well, the downtown Bay store is completely draped in huge banners of athletes wearing the new uniforms.

IMO, way better than the Beijing ones.

The Bay has the exclusive rights to clothe Canada's Olympic team, a contract they won starting with the Torino Olympics in 2006 and lasting until the London Games in 2012.

twitchyzero 10-01-2009 09:44 AM

how come roots no longer supporting it?

that's like the most authentic canadian clothing brand

Yea and unfortunate haha. I always liked the Roots design. I don't know its something about HBC haah

InvisibleSoul 10-01-2009 10:04 AM

Or you can go to Gastown and buy t-shirts that say Canada at 3 for ten bucks. :D

underscore 10-01-2009 10:14 AM

Roots is more authentic than HBC? Dude HBC is as authentic Canadian as it get's.

Personally I like it, I'd rock that toque and hoodie.

ZhangFei 10-01-2009 10:18 AM

that looks like something out of a zellers flyer

You're totally correct, because Zellers is part of HBC and they sell official Olympic merchandise.

MR_BIGGS 10-01-2009 11:32 AM

When I worked in government for the Olympics, all the Canadian clothing made for the olympics in Beijing was not selling I guess. The Olympic store at our office would have staff sales. I got Canadian Olympics pants and hoody for 5 bucks each.

ajax 10-01-2009 12:01 PM

why so plain?

only because it was BOUGHT by a US company,..

how can you say it is not Canadian when it has 300+yrs of history in Canada???

skyxx 10-01-2009 12:33 PM

Roots is also a Canadian company. Just because the idea was thought of in the States and it was Officially started in Canada. So in my books it's Canadian. :) I like Roots better.

at least beijing outfits had some style. but HBC were too agressive back then. now they are WAAAAY to conservative. this will sell much worse than beijing. as was said above, just go to gastown/factory outlet and buy 3 for $10. fail.

Reincorporation in Canada

On June 29, 2009, Tim Hortons Inc. announced that, pending shareholder approval (expected in September), the chain's operations would be reorganized under a new publicly-traded company, also named "Tim Hortons Inc.", incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act. The change is being made primarily for tax purposes.[22][23]

On September 28, 2009, Tim Hortons Inc. announced it had completed the reorganization of its corporate structure to become a Canadian public company.[24] Prime Minister Stephen Harper credited the reorganization as a Canadian public company to the lowering of corporate income tax, while the company claimed the reorganization would also enhance the Company's ability to expand in Canada and internationally.[25] However, New Democrat MP Olivia Chow claimed the tax reduction was done at the expense of consumers with higher harmonize sales taxes[26], while Harper was criticized for skipping United Nations meeting for an Oakville Tim Hortons plant tour.

Exactly. It may be US owned now, which sucks, but HBC is the only thing you can see in the mall and your history textbook.

E-40six 10-01-2009 04:12 PM

Simplex123 10-01-2009 04:28 PM
