i don't think it's really the OP's fault if the friend's been around for 1 year. I've met people where we become good friends within a year as well, and people whom I've known for over 3-5 and they end up not being good people. EVeryone lies, just not everyone do it to that degree.

To the OP: I feel ya man, I've been in the situation before. It's not your fault if shit fucks up this way. Just bad luck really.
