A word for a person who breaks up a relationship

Marge and Joe are happily engaged. In Marge's workplace, there's a person name Bob. Somehow Bob manage to convince Marge to dump Joe and date himself instead. Marge and Bob now lives together.

Is there a vocabulary that can describe Bob? (In Cantonese, Bob will be called 'Day-sam-jie' or 'Third party'. Another more unpleasant Cantonese phrase is 'wu-lai-jing' if Bob was the female)

It is good that Marge broke up with Joe early enough so that Joe wont get hurt even more and that Marge found her real 'true love'. However, Catch 22 - if Marge does get married to Joe, she might settle down and stop accepting flirts from other guys.

Who is in the wrong here? Is it nobody's fault?

Deep down inside me I loathe Bob. If Marge and Joe breaks up naturally and Bob enters the picture after the fact, then it's totally fine in my opinion.

Technically they are not married yet. He shouldnt be called a homewrecker.

Correction: Apparently homewrecker is the proper word according to urban dictionary. Thank you!

backstabber?

a smooth operator, that might get his ass kicked some day, but probably not.

that's how i always viewed relationships

if the girl is willing to leave her current bf because she found someone much more compatible, and she believes she would be happier with him, then drop the ball and chain

but maybe Bob is just too good with words

Homewrecker only if they're married IMO, anything else including engagement is fair game.

SpuGen 10-04-2009 03:00 PM

Mary is a Ho.

I don't get why nobody ever blames the woman.
Sure, the other guy made his moves, but she was the ho that fell for it.

Joe's wearing a green hat now. (in canto)

That is what I originally thought until I looked up homewrecker:

Marge went to Bob by her own free will and accord. Yes it sucks for Joe and I feel sorry for him.

Here's some food for thought: if Joe took care of Marge's every want and need, would you think Marge would even consider leaving with Bob?

Homewrecker or Alpha Male

BallPeenHammer 10-05-2009 06:58 AM

if a situation develops this way, there may be underlining problems in Joe's original relationship. If the woman is just jumping ship, I wouldn't be too concerned. I'd just move on with it.

I've been on both ends of it and I don't see a problem with it.

If you're on the end where you stand to lose the woman, you wouldn't want to retain a woman anyways who either: isn't happy with you, or could be happier somewhere else. Trust me, I've retained women despite those circumstances and it's not worth it.

Likewise, this is also why I don't feel guilt when I've poached. But most guys have problems with me on this as they'd rather keep their pride intact at the cost of their gfs misery.
