I dont see how it's a bitch post.
He has the money to buy an SR swap or buy an S13 w/ SR.
But cheaps out on insurance and theft deterrent?

Owning a 240 with neither of those would be like owning a Honda back in the 2000's and having your fingers crossed that it wouldn't get jacked.

Comprehensive costs what? a couple more bucks a month?
Alarm costs upto a $1000 max. For a really good alarm with all the bells and whistles.

I'm sorry for what happened to you, but thats like leaving your front door open and expecting to not get robbed.

That, and it takes about 10 seconds to break into a 240. Ignition on and everything. Not exactly the best car to have modded, parked outside without an alarm or comprehensive.

^ Good point, my civic back in the got broken into twice in one week and without damaging the door, window, ect. This just shows how fuckin easy it is to break in into 90's cars

I think you lost the point, the fact doesn't matter if its true or untrue.

The guy had his car stolen and he came on RS to try to find help to get it back. Then some douche comes on and flames the guy.

LeanNsupreme 11-03-2009 12:01 AM

If you didnt have an alarm on it, then you were asking for it.

The_AK 11-03-2009 12:50 AM

learn from your mistakes, i think all of us can agree on that

05colorado 11-03-2009 02:06 AM

I hate to agree but it's true, and being so desirable only makes it worse

interestingly enough my Z31 came with an alarm!?!?!
You can get one for what two or three hundred?

GabAlmighty 11-03-2009 06:30 PM

And pretty sure ICBC is not going to cover you much for that car. As far as they're concerned it's just another 240sx, which is worth a couple grand to them? Even IF you bring in all your receipts and show this and that they wont give you much money back unless you have the "modded car" insurance or whatever it's called.

Even if you go private and pay extra for insurance to cover this type of car they will still try every thing possible to fuck you over.

So as far as comprehensive is concerned, pretty sure this is still a 240sx to ICBC... Even with 20k in receipts you wouldn't get to much for it.

But please, someone prove me wrong so I can restore a bit more faith in ICBC and not have to worry about my car getting jacked.

I had a fully resto/modded car with no alarm, never had any issues.

hk20000 11-03-2009 06:43 PM

if you don't have the car appraised it's impossible to get more $$ than its market value. Modified parts do not increase resale.
