Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Sure you don't pollute earth driving an electric car, but isn't the production of batteries REALLY bad for the environment?

Props to the guy for making a quick electric car though. 100% torque right off the bat.

Repost, but a good one.

Now imagine you can get enough power/charge to power an autoX car.

Depends on how you look at it. It takes a lot of processes to make a battery, yes... but a battery can be 90+% reclaimed and recycled. Not too many other things can be re-used that much.. so if you recycle the battery, you're doing more good than if you just turf it off a cliff.

Lithium Ion batteries (The type he converted to near the end of the video) don't create near as much pollution as the lead acid type, at the very least there are no heavy metals involved.

Look at the Telsa roadster. Weight isn't an issue if people are willing to shell out the $$$ for Lithion ion batteries.

What is an issue is how much performance do you loose when the battery starts to go low.

The guy said his stripped out 510 with the new batteries was 1900 lbs, which was 700 lbs less than the old batteries. Yeah, that car should handle nicely, and with that much torque on tape, corner exit will be nuts.

It's not just the battery construction... you need to charge them from somewhere. Here in BC, it's nice clean hydroelectric, but if your local juice comes from coal- or gas-fired generation, you're really not doing the atmosphere THAT much of a favor.

Yes it's just an emissions shift, but it's WAY better & more efficient to control the emissions of a single power plant than of thousands of individual car engines. Plus the emission control systems in power plants are vastly more complex and efficient than what's in your car, not to mention it's monitored 24/7/365.

How many cars in the vancouver area do you see puking black/blue, are running gutted cats etc.?

Point is, don't be fooled that electric cars are 100% clean, emissions-free solutions.
