cable clutch problem

I recently bought a 90 civic si and it just had the clutch and clutch cable replaced before I got it (fenco clutch and beck arnley cable). now the clutch pedal is stiff as hell, way stiffer than my aftermarket clutch in my other civic. grabs really hard too I find. tried squirting some wd40 in and played around with the adjustment, but doesn't make a difference. any other suggestions?
