That is not "one man's word" that is a huge collection of data organized by the World Health Organization.

Any arguments you have are literally put to rest with this data.

Quote:
Howeve, north american health agencies still agree with the correlation of cholesterol and heart disease and current university courses, still "preach" this information.
And as studies are looked at, that correlation disappears. If you actually plotted the data and looked at it, you would find it ridiculous what they call a "correlation". It's almost like they are blatantly lying to go with predetermined notions. And when you are talking about "health agencies" please tell me you're not referring to the lobbyists like the AHA... If so, wow you really are fleeced.
Quote:
Believe it or not, this social belief did not come without research, and multitudes of studies have been put into cardiovascular disease.
Yes, and when you look at them - when you really look at them - you will see that there is no correlation between heart disease and high cholesterol.
Quote:
go out there and tell a doctor straight up. "I'm on a high cholesterol diet full of saturated fat," and see what he says, probably not "good going chap!"
Actually, he'll say "let's put that to the test". Then we can test my blood, and find out that I have extremely high HDL levels, and almost no triglycerides at all. Just like anyone else who eats like I do.
Quote:
As a side note, Transfats are avoided due to the fact that they were originally non-hydrogenated fats (good) that have been converted into a version similar to saturated fats in form and function.
Holy shit, you're only about 10 years outdated with that notion
Quote:
So a high intake of saturated fats is just as bad as transfat.
Wow. Just.. wow. I honestly don't know how to respond to such an idiotic statement. Sorry
Quote:
I won't waste my time explaining the organic structures of them. Rock on with your amazing health philosophy, it sure sounds tasty
Tasty, and healthy. My cholesterol is perfect, I am losing fat like mad, and I have tons of energy that lasts the entire day, every day. It's quite awesome, you should try living like a normal human some time!

This is going no where and is entering levels of trolling. The points I make are based off the science behind them, and by explaining the systems all I've gotten were responses such as "idiotic" or "10 years behind." If your belief stands true, then I suggest you apply your vast nutritional knowledge to a few educational institutions and disband this nonsense they're teaching. Heck who knows, a few years down the line you might even win a few nobel prizes for countering both fundamental organic chemistry and a few medical inaccuracies.

I am totally serious. If you are not ignorant, then you would realize that cholesterol is only "bad" if the ratio of HDL > LDL, good LDL > bad LDL, and HDL > Triglycerides is bad. The way to properly correct all three ratios is to eat sources of GOOD cholesterol. That means natural sources from animals. Eggs, fat on meat, etc. You might have "high cholesterol" overall, but your actual detailed cholesterol profile will be vastly improved.

So if you have shitty cholesterol, or want to stay healthy and live longer, you should eat all the cholesterol you can. Keeping in mind that there is no correlation at all between high cholesterol and heart disease (contrary to what some bullshit studies attempt to say). It's inflammation and high insulin spikes that you want to avoid, not "high cholesterol".

Is there a such thing as eating too much uni? Probably.. How much bottom-feeding sea creature ovaries do you really want to ingest? But is it a concern for your cholesterol levels if you eat a lot of it? (which is what I brought up in the first place) absolutely not. Quite the opposite actually.

Uni (and other food sourced from sea animal ovaries) is actually really good for you - it is packed with protein, has a ratio of protein/fat of about 3:1, and much of the fat contains really good cholesterol. There is absolutely no reason to limit your intake of uni, beyond feeling sick from eating such rich food of course

SG!
Nice post.
Didnt realize how messed up getting UNI is.
Still love eating it.

Skinnypupp,
Nice post as well.
Cant say I was ignorant, rather mis informed.
After reading your debate's and looking into these ideas further.
Iv actually learned allot more about HDL + LDL.

Well, seems like he's got a pretty solid foundation which you can't really attain just by reading articles on the net.. can you?

I'd imagine Skinnypupp has had at least some sort of formal education?

I feel the opposite. From what I get from his responses is that he does not have a health science background.

Any fat that has been converted from its natural form. Trans fats. If you are buying cookies or crackers or something, and the ingredients say "vegetable oil" or something, then it has this bad fat. If it says palm oil, coconut oil, or butter, then it's fine as long as it's not hydrogenated. Margarine is just about the worst thing you could put into your body.

Well I suppose you could also eat the feces-filled guts too, if you really want to. I won't guarantee you won't get sick though

There are a lot of people a million times smarter than I am, with "formal educations". Those are the people I learn from. And not everyone has an agenda. The academics that are feeding you bullshit almost certainly do though.

i believe most restaurants use those little trays unless they state "fresh" or "live" which i would assume to be freshly prepared uni. which reminds me, when i went inside tsukiji, one of those trays could be had for as cheap as 800 yen no idea on the quality however.

I know Ichiro (in Steveston) uses fresh uni. IMO they are the best Japanese restaurant in Richmond.
