I got a 94 Suzuki swift that owns the snow.. Plus it sits higher than most sedans and you are guarantee to drive over those huge mounds that are in the middle of the street.

+1

i made it thru last winter on shitty all seasons, but it moved like a 3 legged cow and me turning the steering wheel was more like a suggestion to change direction

get some good treads or else 4wd / AWD will be useless

rwd winter beater? Get a cheap fwd honda or toyota and a set of good snow tires. You won't regret it, especially with only 2g's to play with.

+1 for any gen civic w/ snow tires. reliable and economical, what else could you want?

EF's (88-91) can be had for $500-$1200 easily nowadays.

13" snow tires from canadian tire start at around $80/ea

edit: insurance is cheap too for older gen civics.
