Purse snatching caught on camera

Richmond News
Published: Friday, October 09, 2009
The corner of No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway was the scene of yet another purse-snatching Monday. But this time one of the suspects was caught on video surveillance cameras.

A young Asian male, pictured right, was caught on camera entering and then exiting a business behind a woman who was then robbed. The culprit snatched the 39-year-old woman's Louis Vuitton purse, which contained an iPhone and a "significant amount of cash."

Although not matching the description of suspects in a similar attack a week earlier at London Drugs parking lot, the RCMP believe the man caught on video Monday may have committed last week's robbery as well. Anyone who recognizes him should call 604-278-1212, or 1-800-222-8477.

LV bags would be ideal to steal

SkinnyPupp 10-13-2009 11:27 PM

I always thought, if I were to ever become a thief, I would target the C-Lais in Richmond. You always see them pulling huge amounts of cash from the ATM, and not being very discrete about it (because then they would get no face!)

Finally someone figured it out

AznFlipOut604 10-14-2009 12:03 AM

i swear it's the goddamn skytrain..

gnat. 10-14-2009 12:44 AM

It's the Canada Line....

Last week I saw a white guy wearing a cap and those stupid lumber jack pattern jackets, taking a piss right on #3 road outside of the Landsdown station. He wasn't being discreet at all.

Yes I understand when you are drunk, STILL you at least try to hide and not try to be obvious.

This guy basically had his back facing 3 Road, middle of the day on Saturday. If you live in Richmond, you know how slow and backed up traffic can be between Kwantlen Rd and the Landsdown station. I guess some ppl don't care. I just thought Richmond was a better place than most. Interesting to see what the city will become in the next 6-12 months due to the sky train.

The bum problem will be solved once turnstyles r in place.

There will be no turnstiles at the new Canada Line stations when the rapid transit service opens Monday, and a promise to install them at all SkyTrain stations has been postponed for another three years.

In 2007, Kevin Falcon, the then B.C. transport minister, first promised turnstiles could be in place on the Lower Mainland's transit system within a year in order to crack down on fare evasion and petty crime.

Then in April, just a month before this year's provincial election campaign, Premier Gordon Campbell announced the provincial and federal governments would spend $100 million to put the gates in place by spring 2010.

But Ken Hardie, spokesman for Metro Vancouver transit authority TransLink, now says it will be at least three years before the turnstiles are installed as part of a major overhaul of the transit fare system.

"We could see turnstiles starting to appear in the system by 2012," Hardie told CBC News on Thursday.

"We hope to actually have some work done a little bit later that will lead to some contracts for not only turnstiles, but also the smart card system that complements the turnstile system."

Bums were already in Richmond before the Canada Line was built. There's always been 10-20 behind the bottle depot near Save-on-Foods on Ackroyd Rd.

you're saying you're no better than a stray dog?

Skytrain or not, drunk or not, you must come from a fucked up family if you were never taught the basic etiquette of going out into public.
