New Computer for the Parents

I'm looking at getting a new PC for my parents. Price range is around 400 bucks - 450 tax in.

Any suggestions, Or a complete build? They don't use it much other then Surfing the internet/download dramas and movies. skype with family back in asia.

Other then that, really thats all they use it for. Any suggestions on what to get them?

I'm looking for something very generic but able to support windows 7 because it can convert from chinese to english whenever I need to troubleshoot for them.

Many thanks

i've looked at http://www.genericcomputer.com/i-133...Duo_E7500.html

I would go with a Dell because of the warranty and tech support.

I think the important thing is the monitor... something nice and big so their eyes don't have to suffer.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

they've been on a used computer for like 8 years now. LOL it just started to break down now.

Hence the need for osmething new.

I' bought them a nice 22 wide-screen for all their movie needs, so the new replacement is the tower.

Does Dell have any prices that range?

Vostros 220s for $419 seems pretty good for their needs.
With the dell support and OS installed, i think its better than the link you posted. =]

There's usually some refurbs at Futureshop and Best Buy for under $300 w/o monitor. I think an upgrade to Win7 is included, as well.

go into Staples and Office Depot and take a look, usually one of the two has a tower that's super cheap (3 years ago I snagged a tower for $300 at Staples, this year my buddy got a tower for $350 at Office Depot). It won't be listed online you just gotta go see what's chilling there.

Dells tech support is worthless. The complete care warranty coverage is nice tho.

i posted something similar about a month back. i went with other's recommendations and bought an acer aspire r3600 revo from ncix and hooked it up to my mom's sony bravia tv. she now uses it for email, some basic internet stuff, and to skype relatives overseas, but router problems (there is a standard desktop downstairs on DSL) and windows vista annoyances haven't made things smooth sailing
