when im surfing it now it feels like surfing pages on a berry 4 years ago, the loading time is slightly better but with Safari i'd almost prefer to have the normal version over the mobile, it looks so sterile now

:werd: As a fellow iphone owner I agree as well...

TheKingdom2000 10-19-2009 10:29 PM

i don't like it at all.

the RFD mobile version is wayy better.

JesseBlue 10-19-2009 10:58 PM

i dont like it. the mobile version in opera seems better than what i see right now. that browser ensures that the width of the page matches the screen

when I first read the title I thought Revscene bought a company car....

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2009 11:36 PM

For everyone whose browser is not being detected as mobile, please go to this page in that browser, and paste exactly what it says here.

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2009 11:41 PM

To everyone complaining: This is a work in progress. If you have constructive criticism, let me hear it. This is my first time ever working on a mobile version of a site.

To all the iPhone users saying you'd rather view the full version on your 480x320 screen - umm.. sure. I'll add the option to switch back later, if you really think that's a more efficient way to view a site.

Maybe you can keep the mobile site barebones and make a second, "enhanced" mobile version for iPhone/Android/WebOS/smartphone users? Just build upon what you've got in the mobile site: better, more touch-friendly formatting and buttons?

Though quite honestly, the mobile site is FAST AS HELL as it is on my Magic, and I am pretty damn pleased with it so far. :3

Sweet. Just trying it out

i hate mobile versions of websites, i want the real deal when i surf off my phone

Eclypz 10-20-2009 02:38 AM

I like the new touch friendly buttons :)
Keep up the good work, SP!

Constructive Criticism:
- new PMs counter somewhere near the top?
- "back to top" button on the bottom of the thread, and a "to the bottom" button on the top of the page
- default action for clicking a thread seems to be taking me to "first unread posts", which is hit & miss for me...RS never seems to keep track of read/unread properly....perhaps have a separate button for unread post and the default action for clicking the thread title to first post? (Just like the full site)
- have a "first unread" post button while in the thread.

Ok. I signed in with my iPod touch to see what the fuss was about and I can confirm that the site is a bit hard to navigate with the iPhone
It doesn't appear to format as nicely as on my android device. Everything is so small, I have to pinch zoom to click a link. To read posts, I have to zoom, then scroll horizontally and vertically.

The iPhone formats the site with extra wide columns.

Does the iphone browser not support wrapping at all?

I guess not...I don't use my iPod to surf much.

I just went to a couple websites, and it doesn't appear to wrap text relative to the zoom level.
