Fifth Gear first aired in 2002 after the original incarnation of Top Gear was ‘rested’ in 2001 due to poor ratings.

Several former Top Gear presenters, including Butler-Henderson were hired by Five to present the show.

The self-confessed tomboy raced karts as a child and competed in Formula First.

As one of the few high-profile women motoring experts, she is not likely to be off the circuit for long. Her husband Phil Churchward is series director of Top Gear.

Five said it was proud of Fifth Gear but that it was ‘time to try something new’.

I say thank you, they had maybe one or two good car reviews per season but the rest was sooooo boring

Fifth Gear was never Top gear .... most of their tests were kinda pointless... but it was still a good car show nevertheless ... sad to see it go..

on a side note, top gear is comming back in 25ish days.

Seen this coming but my only fear is the chances of TG ending soon.

whether you're a fan of cars or not, fifth gear definetly never had the charisma or hosts that TG has... if anything

Even though I prefer Top Gear over Fifth Gear any day, Fifth Gear was still cool to watch. Sad it will have to end... :(

Fifth gear was decent a couple years ago but recently it became extremely boring with dull segments and hosts. Also the other issue was the new hosts who joined the show over the last couple of years tried to bring "TG" type humor but failed. That been said I'm sure they'll bring Fifth Gear back at some point.

crap. given the choice i would always watch top gear first, but i wouldn't wish for fifth gear to go away...

fifth gear was pretty decent but i always preferred top gear

It must've been Tiff... he was boring on Top Gear and it got cancelled... he was boring on Fifth Gear and now that's been cancelled. I love Top Gear, not for the cars but Clarkson and the boys... the cars are just a bonus

I gotta give it up for vicki though...she was a damn good driver!

For entertainment, I watched Top Gear. For actually seeing cars being reviewed, I watched Fifth Gear... so sad to see it go.

She has to be since her backyard's basically a Go-Kart track. :lol

haha, she could slide the car, but i wouldn't say shes a great driver. but none of the top gear guys are good drivers either.

tiff needell and jason plato are great drivers. I would love to see tiff back on top gear, even occasionally. Actually I'd love to see tsuchiya make a cameo on topgear.

Tiff was The Stig for a while IIRC
