Would someone please tell me why using a hand-held phone while stopped at a stop light is dangerous?

I wish to differ with your opinion. This morning I watched a woman pull out of a parking lot in front of me, cutting me off and forcing me to slow down. She then drove below the limit, missed seeing 2 people about to cross the crosswalk in front of her because she was looking down at her purse, then wandered from her lane to the next one and back again, with no signals. Guess what she was doing...right...on her hand held cell phone. When I honked at her to get her to try to see the pedestrians about to cross the X walk, she fingered me & continued talking.

I hope you were in your cruiser and gave her a ticket! Part of the reason this driver was so bad is because of the driver's gender too. :p

Well, if you're the guy who was next to me at the light last week... you're typing away on your phone, you catch a bit of motion out the corner of your eye when the left turn lane starts going, so you punch the gas without even looking up and slam into the guy in front of you...

Pretty funny, actually, as long as you're not the guy who got hit.

I was behind someone and he was turning right onto Marine Way and was like over to the left and I had no idea what he was doing. Wasn't turning straight and after the turn, ended up almost going into the left lane and then swerved back into the right lane. Also was going below speed limit so I passed him and guess what, he's on the phone without a handsfree device.

I see this all the time. Don't know if the guy's on the phone or not, but basically the car in front of me guns it when the left turn light turns on andt he cars in the left turn lane start and then he'll have to slam on his brakes when he realizes it was the advanced left turn light and not the straight through light that turned green. I've also seen some where one of the cars inches ahead slightly cause they eased up on their brake and at the slight hint of movement, the car beside guns it and then has to slam on their brake.
