HELP: Where to buy cake? Need Friday night!

Hey guys where can I buy good cake. Cheese or mousse cake or something, not ice cream nor regular Chinese bakery sponge cake please.

The only two places I know is Cumpari on North Road and Compassion outside of UBC. Any place at Cumpari quality (or better :)) with a slightly lower cost? for a 5" to 8".

Thanks a lot guys!

I'm guessing his budget will increase with his level of desperation.

As already mentioned, Sweet Obsession has IMO the best cakes.

ganache and sweet obsessions are what they use at the office for bday parties... but it's ordered well in advance.

yup, after you enter the website, click on "build a cake" then it will show all the option you got..

My suggestion is to keep the option to minimum... because the cake itself is already nice enough, you dont have to add extra option ..unless you are a baller

Trafalgar's actually get their cakes and desserts from Sweet Obsession next door, I believe they are partners, maybe even the same owners.

ilvtofu 10-23-2009 08:32 AM

^yup lol
pretty decent selection

bcedhk 10-23-2009 08:33 AM

sweet obsession and Trafalgar ha same owners.

Sweet obsession i reccommend if you want something more simple yet unique.

Ganache is more delicate, but their cakes do provide a "wow" factor in parties for cakes and are more unique. They got this strawberry shortcake which is very good and light.. Great for a bigger dinner when people are too full and just want a bit of cake with a class of nice champagne to wash it down...

Chairman Kaga 10-23-2009 08:46 AM

Thomas Haas!

Gachinto 10-23-2009 11:45 AM

I tried to search... Trafalgar is a Bistro?
Thomas Haas has some nice party size tarts!
Sweet obsession has a good selection too~
(I think that's the place I've been to? I've always thought it's called Compassion or something lol!)

Edit:
Aww Thomas Haas is in North Van?

So Ganacheor or Sweet Obsession... or cupcake~ Gotta head out and get it now! :)

roastpuff 10-23-2009 12:51 PM

True Confections is pretty good as well... 10th and Alma.

Sweet E's on 41st and East Boulevard... their Dark Chocolate Ganache is to die for!
