Windows 7 vs Vista - The Definitive Performance Comparison

Windows 7 vs Vista, which one is faster?

Find out ;)

Pretty impressive IMO, some games getting a 20% performance boost

Need a win xp vs win7 comparison to persuade me to go through the trouble of a clean install to install this new os.

Man even with TF2 with MAX settings on Vista, it lagged like shit. On 7 it runs smooth like butter!

theres actually quite a few tests of win7 beta and xp and vista

one has xp and 7 being tied for gaming, while 7 led in all other aspects

another had 7 being better for gaming than xp etc

so :/

I'm still on XP and I will most likely keep XP on my main computer and install Windows 7 on my new gaming computer i'll be buying next month.

I haven't been able to tolerate using XP for at least the last year ... Once you get used to all the nice features in Vista, it makes XP unbearable, even if Vista is an absolute dog on some computer (laptops; low-end desktops).

I can't wait for my copy of 7 Ultimate to come in (some time in mid-November) and then I'll build a new gaming computer.

You can just upgrade. I just did the upgrade from Vista to 7, started the installation, went for Coffee, came home and it was done. Went super smooth, ran into 0 issues. The majority of my applications/software still work, I think maybe 3 programs had to be reinstalled. Also, I'm on a Dell Laptop and had 0 driver issues on the switch.

I've only been using 7 today but I'm really digging the new task bar, and all the other improvements that I've seen so far! Good post here on a lot of the new features --> http://lifehacker.com/5386953/lifeha...yline=true&s=x

Fox1096 10-27-2009 10:42 AM

Worth paying the extra money for Windows 7 professional or is windows 7 home premium decent enough?

hotong 10-27-2009 09:56 PM

Started my download for Windows 7 Professional , i get it for free from MSDN :). Hope its compatible with my asus laptop.

skyxx 10-28-2009 12:43 AM

Apparently the team that wrote Vista got fired. :lol

underscore 10-28-2009 07:22 AM

doubtful

Great68 10-28-2009 07:34 AM

I'm glad I didn't waste my money on Vista. I'm still annoyed that they changed stupid things that weren't broken in XP (IE: Rename Add/Remove programs to Programs & Features).

I guess I'll bite the bullet and install Windows 7 on my next new machine.
