Thanks Senna, I hadn't heard of Capture One before. I'm gonna download it and try it before I buy anything now.

1 thing i dont understand is how Lightroom changes the exposure and contrast of an image from it's 'loading preview' to the loaded image. i dont get it, which is the correct one? The loading preview looks alot more 'raw' then when it's fully loaded, and no i dont have the auto process features turned on. Does LR3 still do this?

yea, i notice that too. i think it's only to RAW files though where it adds +50 brightness and +25 contrast lol

i think so. but its anoying. and when you put those adjustments back to 0, the image look completely off and no where near how it was shot. I just dont get it.

I hate that too, i haven't figured out how to make it stop doing that

What you're initially seeing is the embedded JPEG with the in-camera settings applied, and when the image finishes rendering, that is the RAW image. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable it.
