Egypt’s Oras$com group took over the project in 2008. they are refinishing it and will be open in 2012!!

Expecting cost - $2billion = N Korea 10% GDP

slammer111 10-27-2009 04:32 AM

So how are they going to fix the "substandard concrete" and "misaligned frame" problems? If you do your research, they didn't do the best job building this thing..

Sweet, so now anybody who uses the new Wind Wireless will now be subsidizing Kim Jong-Il's place. :D

yeah, I just read about it. No one knows what they are going to do about it. One thing for sure is they want to finish it before the 100th NK anniversary, which is going to be 2012.

S korean predict it will continue to be unhabitable, only the lower few floors and the top will be open to guests.

thumper 10-27-2009 06:39 AM

so... the top floors are going to be occupied, and they are just going to hide everything behind a glass fascia? how do people get to the top? i remember reading somewhere that the elevator shafts are so badly misaligned they were totally unusable

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-27-2009 07:13 AM

sick

J____ 10-27-2009 07:22 AM

wow... even the building looks communist haha.

donot521 10-27-2009 08:31 AM

WOW, finally they're going to try and finish this building. It was left unfinished for A LONGGGGG time

tool001 10-27-2009 08:46 AM

no wonder they cant successfully fire a ICBM missile, or build elevator shafts

thats probably why its a 2 billion dollar job to fix/redo this thing.
but yeah im glad someone is doing something with it, just looking at the unfinished product standing in the middle of the city looks so depressing

tonyvu 10-27-2009 10:05 AM

A big chunk (if not all) of Wind Wireless's startup costs in Canada is funded by Orascom Group. I'm not sure if everything is kept 100% separate, since it's a conglomerate. Maybe some Finance/Accounting guy can chime in here.

you! 10-27-2009 02:20 PM

bleh, they still have to construct additional pylons

Gt-R R34 10-27-2009 03:38 PM

Construction began in 1987 and ceased in 1992

Damn... 20 year old - wind/rain erosion building...

Wonder how they will get the revenue to keep the hotel alive after completion. It's not as if N.Korea get any tourists.

This thread's title is wrong. That piece of shit could never look good.

They're polishing a turd...

Amuse 10-27-2009 08:46 PM

That Hotel is haunted and scary. It was abandoned for like 20 years with the top opened. I would really like to see pictures of the inside. It must look at least 20 years old inside.
