I got a promotion just before the crisis. Everyday I'd go to work, browse RS, play MMORPG and get paid.

But now the economy is picking up again and I've been working my ass off as some colleagues of mine have been passing the buck.

I live on the other side of the pond; the amount of people living in poverty over here is just heartbreaking to be honest.

Left my last job of 4 years before they announced that they would be laying off everyone. Got a new better job with better pay and future which also lead to an promotion 2 months in.

Graded in June from SFU...tough job market (little or no job market). Competing against people who have lost their jobs and have more experience.

Its been alright.
Whole office took about a 5% paycut to reduce layoffs.
Investments are out of the red zone. Except for a couple that went belly up.
Couple of properties I have did level off back nicely. Expecting a dip on it again this winter.
My clients are all buying again...

Cant say the recession is over... But its definitely heading toward the right direction.
The world did not end. Life goes on.

What was your reasoning to buy this?

quasi 10-28-2009 11:58 AM

Haven't had a raise in a couple years but I haven't been out of work at all so I can't really complain. There were some scary moments for our company but we managed to get through them but the worst may be in front of us not behind us so we'll have to see how it plays out.

A lot of people at my office got hit hard. I think back in Feb/March there was a day where 30 people got laid off via public email. Morale for the office during the next couple of weeks went straight down the shitter.

I think life is difficult for fresh grad since ppl with experiences r being laid off & r willing to take junior positions. Of course employers r gonna hire these ppl first since they dun need a lot of training.

I went to a speed interview for CGA the other night & it's sad how many ppl alreayd have their designations & r still looking for a job. Talked with a couple guys & a few of them were laid off a year ago & still can't find a job. Sad
