how the hell do you know if shes gf material or not in the first place if you dont spend 3 or 4 dates with a girl ???

I think you did great as in getting her number, props to you, however, you didn't do what a normal would do on teh first date; throw out the qualifiers. I'm not going to teach you this but you need to find out if she has a bf or if she is mentally unstable and just things you need to do.
after the 1st date, you should know clearly if you have chemistry with the chick OR you just wnat to be her good friend (hoping she has some prettier friends).
