Nürburgring Lap times are virtually identical (8:28-8:29), 0-60, 1/4 mile times and trap speeds are all virtually identical, the only significant difference is the driver.

CHOOSE A SIDE, STATE WHY.

Depends on needs: if a person never shuttles more than 1 passenger, go for the z car.

if the person needs a sedan, then go for the s4, but I think the s5 would be closer to the 350z.

I would take the 350z for the styling and the RWD.

GabAlmighty 10-29-2009 11:34 PM

350z is too played out in my books. I would do the s4 as i've always had a soft spot for audi's, and fixing them every weekend. But, if I had the ultimate choice it would be an rs4 hands down

Amaru 10-29-2009 11:39 PM

The S4 is my choice, no question. There's way too many 350's out there... which says they're a good car, but they're just too common. It has become a boring, cliche sports car nowadays.

I have never driven an S4, to be perfectly honest, but the fit and finish on the A4 is superb. I have heard nothing but good things about that particular Audi V8, although I'm sure it drinks fuel. My beefs with the 350Z included a cheap shit interior, bad ergonomics, poor visibility, and a vicious clutch.

Anyway, S4 all the way.

S4 all day.
4 doors, equal performance, better build quality

Ludise 10-29-2009 11:58 PM

I love the styling of the S4 and its more unique and it has the race car and luxury car feel all in 1 it also allows for the expansion of a family if wanted or needed. all around you have to respect the German's technology, engineering and sense of style.

case 2

boatcaptain 10-30-2009 12:11 AM

learn sumthin new everyday!didnt no the 350z have such a big gas tank

Alphamale 10-30-2009 12:14 AM

To quote a friend:

Four doors for more whores.

Why settle for a Nissan when you can get a premium Audi? (Expecting you can eat the costs of owning such a car without qualms)

Dentz 10-30-2009 12:15 AM

S4 all the way.

Reasons:
1) I've been in a B5 S4 and loved it
2) I already own a Z car (Z32)

bob_chan 10-30-2009 12:15 AM

S4 = baller status, seats 4 adults comfortably for a long trip.
350Z = nice car, but a few too many on the street make it less of a desirable car. Also it's impractical as there is a HUGE structure in the trunk that effectively bisects the area and makes even weekend trips difficult as you can't put a suitcase there. Also, only seats 2 ppl.

JackyJai 10-30-2009 01:03 AM

If you want a reliable car and unlimited aftermarket parts get the 350Z.
If you want a vehicle will get you around in all condition and need to fit a family get teh Audi.
Parts are a lot cheaper for the 350Z than the S4.
Bolt on parts for the S4 are not cheap. Exhausts are about 1500~2500 for the B6 S4.
Maintaince cost for a S4 is going to be a lot more than 350Z (I don't have a shit if you have a friend's friend's friend has no problem with his Audi. I have seen too much shit on german cars and you can't just bring it to any shop to work on it.)
And the cube weight for the 350Z is not 35XXlb. It's about 33XXlb depences on the trim.
Price wise a B6 S4 is going to cost more than 05+ 350z.
05 350Z are about mid 20gs~low 30gs but the B6 S4 are about low 30gs to mid 30gs. About $5000 more on the B6 S4.
For that kind of money you can do a FI on the 350Z and say good bye to the S4 or even RS4.
Plus you can drive a 4door sedan when you are old but old age in a coupe just doesn't fit in.
Baller status in an old Audi?? I don't think so.
Ballers drive new ones.

S4: More practical, status/mature, AWD, not as common

PiuYi 10-30-2009 01:31 AM

close call but i'll choose s4

i'll admit ive never driven a 350z but ive driven quite a few s4's s5's and its hard to imagine a car built much better than that

HonestTea 10-30-2009 01:55 AM

S4 easily. The v8 engine note is amazing + AWD + Seats 4. I'm thinking about the 2010 Audi S4, 4-door, LSD, AWD, S/C and 333hp :drools:

124Y 10-30-2009 01:55 AM

Overall, I would choose the S4. Don't get me wrong...the 350Z is a great car! I would choose the 350Z for its appearance and cheaper aftermarket parts. However, the S4 is more practical and more rare. Its Quattro system is also pretty nice!

Maybe it's because I drive an Evo, so I'm more biased towards 4-door AWD cars. :wooha:

Z3guy 10-30-2009 06:53 AM

S4 is nice, but there is a reason they depreciate way more than a 350Z....parts & maintenance are going to be crazy expensive.

the 350Z is like all jap cars, just put in gas and change the oil.....

too_slow 10-30-2009 07:25 AM

If you're going to autoX/track the car, Z because RWD+LSD = win.

Everything else, S4 > Z.. It's worth it to get the S4 alone based on the Leather + Alcantara recaro interior, and the V8 exhaust note (go youtube one with an MTM exhaust)

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-30-2009 08:12 AM

350z if u want a sports 2 door coupe

if u want a sport 4 door sedan and dont mind the subtle look than go for it

maintenace on S4 will be a lot higher keep that in mind

freakshow 10-30-2009 09:25 AM

S4
- 4 doors
- 5 ppl
- sleeper (compared to 350z)

the only thing i'm not sure about is reliability. I recall the B6s having tons of electrical issues?

heleu 10-30-2009 09:26 AM

Depends how much you're willing to pay. This isn't a fair comparison though; for the price of 2006 350Z, that will buy you a 2004 S4.

Obviously, an older S4 (especially with more cylinders, more elctronics, and AWD) is going to cost more to maintain than a newer 350Z (simpler, with less cylinders and RWD).

I say buy the 350Z - more fun, less cost.

RacePace 10-30-2009 09:30 AM

the AWD factor alone is hard to beat, if it snows like last year, you're fucked with the Z.

!Aznboi128 10-30-2009 09:35 AM

i would say s4 cause its just better overall

xpl0sive 10-30-2009 09:35 AM

i've had both... i fight had a B5 S4, sold that, for some stupid reason, bought a 2006 350z. two months later i crashed it, mainly because i wasnt used to having a RWD car in the rain... going around the same corner i could easily take in my S4 going 140, I was doing about 90 in my 350z and hit a patch of water and spun it. anyways, decided AWD was far better suited for me, and bought a B6 S4 after. I had a dolphin, 6 speed, with an exhaust... it was a good car, drink a lot of fuel, but it holds its own, no matter the weather conditions outside... if you're looking for a stoplight to stoplight drag car, look elsewhere. if you're looking for a nice 4 door that is quick, well made and can get you around any time of the year, get the S4... I have since moved on to a larger S6, which I'm loving
