I think Fail button is a failure

Kind of an annoyance to get people to fail me or any other person without a valid reason. Another forum I frequent to (LL or End of the Internet) have a similar feature - good tokens and bad tokens. When throwing out bad tokens, the sender must state a reason.

Anyways, I expect mass fails for giving out my feedback in regards to the fail button.

TheKingdom2000 10-31-2009 05:35 PM

lol.
i think you're taking this fail button too seriously..

WHO CARES?
it's just a button that doesn't mean anything...

being failed doesn't affect your status.. so don't worry about it.

mmmk 10-31-2009 05:35 PM

i agree with u gnomes....but why did u fail yourself??

Gnomes 10-31-2009 05:40 PM

I am taking away the pleasure from anyone from casting the first fail in this thread :)

MG1 10-31-2009 05:46 PM

Well, in all honesty, it does bother me a bit. I don't know about others, but I would like to think other RS'rs think highly of me. I say dumb stuff on occasion. Anyway, if people don't care about the fail, then it defeats the purpose and it becomes a dumb game for some.

Is it stupid to try and make this site a little more............... respectable?

BTW, thanks Gnomes, for posting/starting the thread.

Well said civic. If fail button is useless with out any consequence, should people start to try to collect as many fails as possible (Zhang Fei)?

And yes, sometimes people say stupid things which deserve a fail. But other times, I am clueless to why this person or that person deserves a fail

spoon.ek9 10-31-2009 05:54 PM

it's just pack mentality sometimes. monkey see, monkey do.

ZhangFei 10-31-2009 06:04 PM

sometimes yeah i do admit I say things to get a reaction out of people...

but other times... when i'm expressing myself from the bottom of my heart and you guys fail me, it hurts me.

spoon.ek9 10-31-2009 06:10 PM

lol...

SHHEEEUUUUUTT IT YA OLD BASTARD!!!! :haha::haha:

JK I'm no spring chicken either. :D

Actually, I'm in the same boat about the board and the fail button. Great when used at the right time but carries no weight when over used.

urrh 10-31-2009 06:35 PM

agreed. it's an excuse for the haters to come out of the woodwork without actually contributing anything

danned 10-31-2009 10:45 PM

failure = cooliure

SkinnyPupp 10-31-2009 11:29 PM

OP is a pretty sad attempt at trying to get a bunch of free fails to mask his true fails :lol

Basically, if you like the button, then enjoy it! If not, just ignore it.

dude, VOT is full of haters.

we hate on politicians, the police, weird people on youtube, washed up celebrities, random people getting molested etc, weird shit that happens in hk, etc. etc.

we post about this and laugh about it because it temporarily helps to raise up our self-esteem. then when the feeling is gone, we look for the next thing or person to laugh at.

its a vicious cycle.

shenmecar 11-01-2009 12:30 AM

Its an addition to make the forum more "fun" although some people do abuse it. I guess that really ruins it for everyone else. I think it would be more acceptable to more people if we had to state a reason. Some people just like to FAIL everything and I think after awhile it gets on some people's nerves.

I would much rather be like you, your posts do not have an option for failure. Haha, but we cant all be mods or admins ;)

I figured if I get enough fails now and over with, future fails wont bother me as much. All your fails are belo *gets shot*

MG1 11-01-2009 05:20 AM

All your fail are belong to us.........

Correct me if I'm wrong, but mods can't get failed, right? If that's the case, I don't think you can relate to the rest of us.

Honestly, and I don't care if anybody fails me on this, RS doesn't need anymore haters. I'd like to think there's a fair share of intelligent people who can actually use words to express how much they disagree or hate somebody, instead of slacking it like a highschool dropout by hitting some button with the guy wondering what exactly you're not seeing eye-to-eye with in his post. If you're going to hate on someone, put some effort into it, give it your own touch. A button that does it seems rather impersonal.

Really, features like this indignify RS as an entity. You guys who run RS spent a lot of time, i'm sure, promoting RS as a respectable site and community, but then you turn around and give the kids a toy like this that they can't control themselves with. 2 steps forward, 10 steps back.

Go ahead, fail it. Go.
