I'm enjoying my 9700 so far! Got it a few days ago... I ended up breaking my old 9000 Bold... So I decided to upgrade. I do miss the keyboard on the 9000. But I love the trackpad on the 9700! So I just have to get used to the size of the keyboard on the 9700... Also, I like how there's way more app memory! So best Blackberry I've ever used so far!

$530 for a brand new sealed 9700 off CL, think its worth it?
i have until tonight to think about it.
i've been wanting to pick one up for so long.

talk me out of it!!!

ladiesman217 01-21-2010 10:43 AM

I personally think 530 is a bit much. There are some going for as low as 425 brand new. I can see the price slowly dropping, so if you can wait a bit longer, I say you should wait and fish out a good deal. Also when you're rushing into a purchase, you may overlook some of the issues with the new bold. Make sure you check EVERYTHING on the bb before u buy it. For example, the sloping trackpad, loose bezel, and press every button on the bb to make sure they all register. :)

show me some links that sell for 425 brand new.

And your one of those asian guys that are very annoying when buying shit arent you. Take like 1 hour to make a purchase on a brand new phone.

tcneo 01-21-2010 02:12 PM

take it, it's a good price for now.. unless if you want to wait longer.. as always eventually the price will come down.

actually, i would agree with him, it is CRAIGSLIST AFTER ALL, it's BUYER BEWARE. its not like buying from a retail store where u can just go back and exchange/refund for another one if anything goes wrong.

as for the price, i'd only seen $400-$500 for used ones and $500-$600 for brand new sealed ones.

also, calling him an "annoying asian when buying shit" was uncalled for, he was just offering a fellow member advice.

Who cares, let the prick get ripped off lol. We take an "hour" when buying shit off CL because it's CL. I bought my BNIB 9700 from CL for $500 a month ago. Prices should go down not up, so if you wanna grab yours for $530, go for it.

On another topic, does anyone know if there's a place I can go to for fixing/replacing the housing of the 9700? I dropped mine on concrete  and the back is all scratched up >.<!

trancehead 01-22-2010 02:00 AM

just got it!! love it

RFlush 01-22-2010 06:46 AM

So I finally got a Bold 9700 and have a couple of questions. I am coming from an iPhone and a lot of my contacts had custom fields for numbers such as 'Hong Kong' 'China' 'Korea' etc. When syncing with outlook and then to my bb, none of the numbers in the custom field copied over. Well, some would and outlook put it in "others" but many of my hk numbers got lost.

Can outlook/bb make custom fields and keep those numbers? Or what should I do?

xeryusx 01-22-2010 01:05 PM

I finally heard back from a local store and local repair guy (both from CL) about replacing my 9700's housing. Are they really this expensive? They gave me an estimate of $80 and up? I just wanted to get the whole back part replaced.

skyxx 01-22-2010 01:23 PM

^ Whole backpart as in battery cover and middle housing?

xeryusx 01-22-2010 01:38 PM

I don't have a clue what you mean when you say middle part, but that's all I want replaced :)

There's also a few tiny scratches near the bottom where the silver and black part meet.

skyxx 01-22-2010 02:00 PM

The middle housing is where the buttons and the charging contacts are.

xeryusx 01-22-2010 03:38 PM

Ah, then all I need is the part that's damaged. Any ideas where I can bring it in?

qwerty69 01-23-2010 11:32 AM

anyone know where i can find white housing yet???!?!? other than online

Not sure, but it's a smart thing to bring it into some cellphone repair shop to do it. It's quite dangerous to replace the middle housing yourself. I believe JP Cellular and some places around Crystal mall does it. Ask the cellphone gurus to point you in that direction. :)

if you have those contacts in gmail contacts, then you can sync that over. I dont know if it will copy the custom fields over though.

a question about the track pad
when u glide ur fingers on the trackpad in a downward movement, eg, scrolling down menus,
does the trackpad physically "tile" or "click"?
it doesnt do this in the up, left, or right motion, but only when i scroll down that it clicks.
is this normal? it feels as if it's a button that i can "click" or tilt down to select something.

it does tilt down a bit. depends on how much force your using. If i do it lightly, it doesn't tilt at all.

yes, it depends, if my thumb is "grippy" that day, i would scroll down and it catches the trackpad, tilting it down and i can feel a "click"
