is anyone modding their phones?

if so, can you share the places where you are getting the pieces?
im looking to do a "black out" on my 9700

jpcellular
jacob has them in stock, but they go fast, so give him a shout before hand

I got the blackout pieces from True Supplier an online store from China. You have to order the Top piece that says Blackberry as well or else ur gunna have to break off the old one from the chrome bezel and ultimately void your warranty. I think I paid 27$ for the bezel, top part, and bottom debrand piece. Theres also 20% off right now!

please tell me where you find this unlocking option button?
very interested

go to options, advanced options, Sim card

type in MEPD
then type in mep2 or mepp2

Unlocking using other methods ie iphone unlocking will void the warranty.

I got mine from sw-box... simply because from the pictures i saw, the mesh was missing on true suppliers, so you have to move it over from the original one.

damn rogers wouldn't give me my credit either they said I had it for more than $15 days...

is the black bezel better than original?..my original one is so flimsy i can probably take it apart by hand and it is squeaky too..sigh

Can someone post a picture of their blacked out 9700 please? I wanna see what it looks like . . . also, anyone know where I can get the hard plastic cases for the 9700? I've got the original OEM skin and it sucks. :D

I'm confused with this post. so you have to buy the whole front part just to replace the small piece on the bottom where the Rogers logo is? I thought the piece was just held in place by pressure, meaning if you stick a small object between the keyboard and the piece, it will just pop right up with enough force.

also, can anyone confirm that doing the black out will void the warranty?

I upgraded from 344 to AT&T's offical 405 release (East Asia version). Two things I noticed:
1. I can't set chinese as a language, only english. I can still read chinese, but no more text inputting
2. The hidden today screen doesn't show up on my home screen anymore, and I've tried re-installing the theme and still no luck.

Has anyone else tried out the ATT's 405 release?

I'm still reluctant to try out the Beta 415 or 421 because of mixed reactions towards it, and I also believe those two don't have chinese input as well.

With Telus cause I didn't have to pay for the One time activation fee of $35 and I get a $150 Bestbuy Gift card. Yeah $150!!!!! Signed up for their Clearchoice plan with has no SAF and 911 fees. Right now I'm confused between some browsers like which i should use for 3G and Wifi. "Blackberry" browser or the Firefox one. :/ Is there a difference in terms of data usage? I'm a newbie at Blackberry haha but I like it!

Is it me or is Telus' 3G very slow. It could be the blackberry itself but I'm getting like 200-400kpbs at the best regardless on 3G or Wifi. :/ Need some help! lol

BBMme 12-21-2009 03:05 PM

overall I'm very happy with the 9700 with bell.

you can just replace the bottom piece alone, without having to buy anything else.

it will void the warranty if you have to remove any water damage stickers.

BS, Call them again. There is no such lifetimer policy unless you are returning the phone for a full refund.

I received mine 3 weeks ago, followed by a return 'cause of a build quality issue.

Tim Budong 12-22-2009 12:36 PM
