I love how the tent landed so perfectly on your yard.

Is the daycare licensed? If not, I think you know what to do.

Well, parents' roof (?) is leaking after that storm last night. And they're heading out of town to go see my brother. Woohoo guess who has to deal with it?

at least the panel itself is fine, just the boards that need to be nailed back in. maybe put a new 1" x 3" top and bottom to add some extra strength.

This weather this year been shit. Been raining every day literally the past 2 months. I thought about buying a portable power station for backup situations where power is out (couple hundred bucks). With weather climate becoming more intense, might be worthwhile to invest into something for emergency backup?

Power was out this morning in my area for few hours. First thing I was like, "fuck" sump pump has no power, we are fucking screwed. Luckily there was no rain this morning and I have a backup mini sump pump attached to the main sump pump, but wasn't sure how long it'll hold without power.

Starting to think how to prepare for worst case now with stuff like this.

costco sells this huge battery power bank that you can use to fuel household stuff. i think its like 1000 bucks but maybe thats the solution.

https://www.costco.com/p/-/ecoflow-2...9905?langId=-1

You can buy this gasoline generator, but most likely the gas you'll need will have to be symphoned out from your own car. who keeps a can of gas around?

The battery backups that can run a fridge, a sump pump (for some time) - will more likely cost $1000 or thereabouts, like what Badhobz posted.

I have a small one but it can't run anything like a fridge or anything like that.

BC Hydro has battery and solar panel (if you want to go all out) rebate programs,

https://www.bchydro.com/powersmart/r...r-battery.html

Says up to $5000 battery rebate but then you'd prob have to spend like $10K. There is a list that are eligible:
https://www.bchydro.com/content/dam/...ttery-list.pdf

Nowadays, if you've switched over to heat pump, you're dead in the water if you don't have electricity.

A gas furnace isn't going to run unless you have some sort of battery backup or generator either...

Weather these last few months have been fucking brutal this year, it feels like it's been dark and raining for almost 2 months straight. At least it's been fairly warm for the most part.

Mexico can't come soon enough.

The only good thing is it’s flooding out these geese fuckers. It’s so swampy that I think they can’t eat the grass and therefore not leaving their massive piles of shit everywhere. Or maybe it’s just being washed away immediately.

Man I hate birds.

Interesting. I switched over to tankless water system that runs the hot water and radiant floor heating. All gas. It's the control panel that uses electricity. If I can get that powered up, it should, in theory, work to keep the house warm, right?

Does it circulate with water pressure? With a furnace, you need to power the thermostat as well as the blower motor. Not sure if your system has a pump to circulate through all that piping...

Yes. We bought a Jackery pack for this exact reason, just waiting for the electrician to come modify the wiring so we can keep our furnace running even when power goes out.

You need power for the thermostat, power to run the pump, power to open and close the gates.
