Dude if you are gonna go with Sony, you should go check out Visions. They were willing to sell me the 46" XBR9 for $1788. That tv is basically the same quality as the Samsung. I just like Samsung better than Sony and that was my determining factor.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-10-2009 12:38 PM

i checked out XBR version vs Z version

basically same shit spec, just different tv enhancement, otherwise spec is exactly the same

100,000 contrast for both models

slow response time 8ms for XBR ...WTF

Samsung 7 series is basically the top highest model for their LCD line up, 8 series has shittier spec but thinner

150,000 contrast, and 2ms response time

FUCK! guess im gonna have to wait....till they stock it up...sigh i cant wait, and i hate waiting. Wonna pop in the new COD on my new tv...and be like :eek::eek: DAMN YO!

how you liking ur new 7 so far?

46" wont do the justice, i need 52" at least

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-10-2009 12:44 PM

listed $2588?

and u hassel him enough that he is willing to sell for $1750?

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-10-2009 12:47 PM

lol wtf

visions list 52" and 46" the same price for sony, $2588

weak visions dont have 7 series either

mazdaboi 11-10-2009 12:52 PM

Fuck haven't really had time to enjoy it yet.... I just moved in a couple months ago so I've been busy furnishing my place.

Yeah man... picked up mw2 today and I can't wait to rip it up on the new tv.

I think I'm also gonna get the tv professionally calibrated. FS said they would do it for $150 (50% off) since I bought the tv from there. I wanna see what this tv can do when properly setup.

In regards to your dilemma, I think you should wait for the Samsung. Quality wise, you probably won't see much of a difference between the 2. Both are really good tvs. But from what I've read and from talking to some of my techy friends, only real difference is the Samsung has more options than the Sony. Personally I just like the way Samsung's look and the interface is user friendly and stylish.

No actually, I got to visions at 8:30 and I was just planning on walking in asking for the Samsung and booking it to FS if they didn't have it, but the guy just quoted me that price right off the bat. But the thing is he said I had to get the 3 yr extended warranty and if it wasn't used, it would convert into a in-store credit. I'm sure if you buy like a hd pvr or something else you won't have to buy the warranty.

StylinRed 11-10-2009 05:58 PM

you should look at Panasonics... the G15 plasmas are on sale now at FS up until Christmas

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...27&catid=23525

$1600 for a 46"

To buy a really good calibration unit is only $200, someone posted it up in the Photo of the Day or whatever it is thread in the Photography section. I'd say buy one of those and either sell it for $150 after or rent it out.

Basically, Samsung B750 Series is the Best LCD.

If you want something better than B750, it gatta be LED backlight Models.

The 8 Series, its from last year, it is "A850". And there is no "B850" on the market.

Sony XBR cant really beat Sammy 750 now.
And XBR price is still 400 bux more than 750......:D:D:D:D Thats pretty OOXX.

Also, I would say ~ Sammy is crashing the TV market now. lol 150,000 DCR, 240Hz, DLNA, USB Media, ~ at that crazy price.

Too bad that Sammy B8500 isn't sold in Canada. (Fxxk Sammy), otherwise, i would have it by now.
Overall, I still like my A950 the best. XDDDD

dude i SERIOUSLY think its a waste of money getting someone to PROFESSIONALLY calibrate ur tv for u, seriously

its just a gimmick

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-10-2009 11:35 PM

ok my BRAND NEW DILIEMMA (spelling)

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0128062&catid=

or samsung 7 series 750

i suspect 7 series i can get around $1800

Sharp LED i suspect staff can be had around $2200 plus taxes

therefore if $400 dollar difference

top of line LCD king of the hill samsung 7 series>?

or more of a lower model 120hrz sharp but LED!!!!! which means wayyyy higher contrast ratio = win, and brighter..lasts longer

FUCK now i really really cant decide

im stuck with these two, forget about the rest...really trying to decide now

twitchyzero 11-10-2009 11:37 PM

stick with the 7
who said LED lasts longer?

everything at Futureshit is a gimmick. What I tell everyone is to research what they're interested in ahead of time, and only go to FS for the actual purchase. They're guys don't know shit all, especially when compared to the combined knowledge of RS.

LED = lower power, brighter, cleaner, less heat, and will always outlast a bulb if it is used within it's designed limits. an LED backlit TV will never need a new backlight, and a fully LED TV should (theoretically) almost never break down. It'll be like those oldass CRT's some people have that WILL NOT DIE (like my parents 25 odd year old Candle TV)

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-10-2009 11:51 PM

NVM

seems sharp's LED gets poor review

http://pg-cnet.com.com/flat-panel-tv...d&part=pg-cnet

Not a true LED LCD or not much better than a higher end regular LCD hence aka samsung 7 series

guess if i really wonna go LED i should save up and get a samsung 7 series LED tv

underscore 11-10-2009 11:52 PM

true LED is expensive, don't confuse it with LED backlit.\

edit: one other thing I though of. if you have it in a room with windows/lots of lights, having a matte screen is key. contrast and blackness levels don't matter for shit if you have tonnes of light reflecting off your screen.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-11-2009 12:18 AM

awww tat explains

almost got it confused...thx god

forget the sharp one than

reviews are pretty bad if not average only at its best

wats a TRUE led and wat isnt?

isnt all LED LCD tvs are backlit by LED bulbs instead regular flourscent?

underscore 11-11-2009 07:13 AM

LED TV: each pixel consists of several LED's for each colour, so any individual pixel can be turned completely off, giving amazing black levels as there is zero light emitted. Looking at a fully black screen will be the same as looking at it when the TV is turned off.

LED backlit: an LCD screen is backlit by LED's instead of standard bulbs/panels, which will last damn near forever and should be brighter. realistically it's a sort of a gimmick to make some people think they have an LED TV with the crazy new tech, but really they don't.

cdizzle_996 11-11-2009 07:16 AM

I have a 42" Toshiba Regza. It was one of their first 1080p LCDs. I've had it for a year and a half or so, and never had a problem. This has been used for thousands of hours of gaming.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-11-2009 08:30 AM

cool thx a lot underscore

so i guess that $2800 Sharp LED is the cheap model half ass LED than, hence why the poor ratings.

ime2006 11-11-2009 12:41 PM

there is no true LED yet.

The only one would be Sony 11 inch X1
