How come Toshiba TVs r quite a bit cheaper than other brands with comparable specs

Yea, I'm wondering why Toshiba 46" 1080p TVs can go under $1,000. Is there something wrong with Toshiba stuff?

im the market for tv hunting

their 240hz 100,000 dyn contrast ratio after $500 off its still $2200 !

$200 dollar more than the 7 series samsung im gonna buy

it really depends on the model and spec...

those are smaller size tvs and models tat are almost obsolete with 60hrz

120hz is starting to become the "standard" (like 1080p now) but i wouldnt say 60hz is obsolete just yet haha

i dont even really like the look of the 120hz stuff, dunno if i have to get used to it or what, but imo it looks way more like "Fast motion" then true life speed..

Toshiba doesn't make bad TV.

Think of it like Hyundai of the TV world.

sammie 52" 750 for $2k is a nice price
i was under the impression the human eye can only see up to 120Hz rendering 240Hz to be useless?

It's also been shown that you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 52" unless you're within like 6-8 feet of the screen (don't know the exact tv size and distance but it's close to that). But I think you're right, the 120Hz vs 240Hz is even harder to distinguish.

My family has owned many Toshiba TVs. All of them have been flawless. Last year I bought a 40" Toshiba LCD with the super thin bezel. It was the only model/brand at the time with that feature and it looks fantastic. It has a bit of a flashlight effect in the upper right hand corner that sometimes bothers me, but other than that, so far so good.

I don't think it can see 120Hz. You can't even see 60Hz too well because that's what lightbulbs run at and a proper working one can't be seen flickering. I think 120Hz is just a nice doubling to be sure you have everything covered, 240Hz will take care of any mutant children with crazy eyes in future generations.

The only 120Hz TV I've watched though, made the movie look like crap. It sort of looked like it does in those "behind the scenes" bits where they show the guy running around on the set and its just doesn't look the same, it looked really fake and made me feel like I was there watching the guys running around on a set, and not actually where they were supposed to be in the story. Is it always like that?

Just remember that all 120hz tvs are real "smooth" so it'll take you awhile to get use to it. It was REALLY weird watching it at my friend's apartment the first time we hooked it up but you get use to it eventually.

Toshiba makes a solid tv, they always have and they were always able to offer the sets at a lower cost (probably cuz they own everything)

Mitsubishi is a nother solid set maker with low prices, although u cant really find them up here anymore all companies used to use parts from Mitsubishi, you can still get them from the states for a small fraction of what comparables cost

Toshiba and Sharp make good TV's, Samsung makes great TV's. I think Sharps big thing was making them super slim if that's what you wanted most, idk if they still do but Samsung and Sony made their screens together so they only diff was the extra features, but the Sony one are mostly useless, unless you're using coax to connect basic cable to your new TV
