you should keep a look out on craigslist, I've seen stories of people stealing animals and selling them on craigslist.

CRS,it's more than likely a inside job,cause there's no way in hell anyone that does not know these two dogs,can come onto the property,especially at night,and walk off with both of them without being ripped apart into pieces.
