so... you're an author running around with a flashlight and a gun, but you only need to shine a flashlight to kill stuff? and the guy keeps yacking the whole time? that would drive me nuts. Now if L4D got this kind of lighting...

invader... can you tell us more.
it's rated pretty high but since Assassin's creed 1, i really don't give a shit about ratings.
i hear the story line is predictable and it gets boring but the suspense kept the game in line. was it decent?

Ok i'll give you my worthless opinion.
this game like any other is repetitive in nature. To defeat the enemies to requires the same strategy over and over. However since it is a suspense thriller there are points in the game at which i jumped in my seat. It is usually when you are under attack from a bunch of enemies and something unexpected happens.
The graphics is amazing, lots of attention to details. However most of the game is played at night. I thought it was pretty cool with a flashlight that you can pretty much shine at anything to check out. There is a fair bit of exploring because you have to find pages of a manuscript Alan Wake wrote. The weapons was a let down. I usually used the revolver, but at 3/4 of finishing the game the good weapons started showing up ie. hunting rifle, auto shotgun etc.
The story was kind of weird, and i won't spoil it for you. In the end, i don't like burning games that i wont play, but i saw IGN gave it a good rating and it labeled it as a "psychological" thriller. Its good for a one-time play only, then i bet you can trade it in and sell it to someone else to play.

invader thx for ur post. i borrowed this game from my buddy and played. damnnnn major disappointment.
i am playing ALAN WAKE. FUcken gay ass game
DO NOT buy it. don't even rent it. fuck another Assassian's creed 1 appointment. someone must have tipped them like gabillion bucks to write a good review.
1) SAME GAME PLAY: level 1 -6 exact same game play. shoot monsters, monsters on all the levels are exactly the same, no challenge what so ever. There are no bosses, no level to pass, nothing. exactly same thing for levels. i feel like i'm in 1980 playing nintendo.
2) weapons: same weapons. there's nothing fun or special. the game can be done using the same weapon from all 6 levels. doesn't show innovation on dynamics at all. eg// bioshock, upgradable weapson, MW2: tons of weapons you can choose and get used to.
It's not necessary something that required for a good game play eg// RDM, but the story has to be freaking epic and the game play has to be fun.
3) scenery: we all hope sometimes we see a different game play of scenery, night / day, indoors, outdoors, driving to and from locations etc.
it's gay. you're always stuck in the dark with the same forest and you don't get anywhere. there's onlyso much someone can take playing in the dark for 8-10 hours. it's gay and boring.
I do agree with you regarding the exploring bit, but seriously, coffee thermos and manuscripts ? i totally gave up, when i have to pause and read and then go back into the game, the momentum was lost.
5/10 don't waste ur time
i still appreciate your input. i was just so bored without any new games to play so i decided to borrow it from a bud.

heard about this game for a while now. been meaning to play it, but read dead redemption kept me busy. will definately pick this up because I heard good things about it.
game reviews for the game are also pretty high with mostly 90s on game reviews: http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...?q=alan%20wake |

I guess the game's not for everyone and some people might get more value out of it than others?
