anti matter ftw |
The machine is now running, but we all haven't been destroyed yet. I was told death was coming. Explain. |
|
has anyone ever thought that maybe they collided the particles, but nothing happened, so they just told everyone that they're doing maintenance (since countries invested 100's of trillions) while theyre actually revising the design? |
The easiest way to the future is through yourself. ;) |

The probably of something bad happening is probably 1 in a billion, trillion. Frankly, those odds are not good enough when it comes to my life. Quote:

and your post doesn't make sense... the whole point of the LHC is to collide protons at near light speeds... if they managed to collide the protons the experiment was a success? if nothing happened when they collided the particles that is still a result that they would have to report. if something amazing happened. ie. finding the higgs they would report it.. either way, they will report it.. if they don't find anything that is just as important as finding something... Scientific Method. It's pretty simple. And all real scientist abide by it. |

1. death is coming. you cannot escape death 2. in theory, there is a chance that a black hole could form and we could all get trapped in the black hole. (black holes do not suck btw) So what more does anyone need to explain? |
Anything is possible. ;) |

2. Well, a black hole hasn't formed yet, so we haven't been trapped in one. In theory, it's possible that a black hole won't form and we will all be spared the horrible death of being stuck like flies on fly paper. Could you explain to me the likelyhood of a black hole actually forming, and where you got that data from. Or are you just pulling that info out of your ass and hoping that an idiot like me will just accept it at face value? |
late response much? |
better late than never... |
one day telekinesis will be real.. i mean just look at gravity, it can move things.. i wanna be like sylar lol |

What the fuck are those Teen Pastors feeding you kids now? The last time I went 5 years ago, they told me that Evolution was all a LIE, and that GOD put everything there for us to find. |

do they use red matter? : D |
blah blah blah, everything has some weird conspiracy theory behind it. fuck off. you guys watch way too many sci fi movies. You think these average-joe-scientists constructed an experiment with billions worth of investment without due diligence? Just think of all the research you do for a nerdy ass gadget you are planning to purchase... morons. world's going to end, blah blah blah. Go suck a nut and live your life. |

In theory, however, a black hole can be of any size, not just very large ones. Any amount of matter, if crushed in upon itself, can theoretically form a black-hole, albeit a very small one if only a small amount of matter is crushed. Some theories suggested that miniature black holes might have been formed in the earliest history of the Universe. Other theories suggest that particle colliders, by crushing two atoms together at tremendous speed, might create a miniature black hole of very tiny dimension. Stephen Hawking in the early 1970s theorized that such miniature black holes were once in great abundance, but later “evaporated” by a quantum tunneling process, so that such miniature black holes no longer exist in our Universe. This process, first theorized by Stephen Hawking, would possibly cause a black hole to evaporate. " ^^ That is from my Astronomy Book. The Cosmic Perspective: Stars, Galazies & Cosmology 5th edition, Bennett, Donahue, Schneider, Voit Astro 310/311 UBC To sum it up.. if you collide two particles together at high speeds.. ie. near light speeds a black hole can form.. Is that ^^ enough support for you? or would you like to come down to UBC and talk to my astro prof? STAY IN SCHOOL KIDS. Quote:
Do you even know what the machine/experiment is supposed to do? It is supposed to collide particles together at NEAR LIGHT SPEEDS. if nothing happens when the particels collide- wtf are the financial backers supposed to do? cook the books and make believe that they found the higgs? Seriosuly? The fact is, if the LHC can collide TWO particles together... IT IS A SUCCESS. END OF STORY. The Large Hadron Collider is supposed to collide things? and if it does that.. how does it not work? the result is independent of the LHC working. Just because the LHC works, doesn't mean they'll find shit. |

the fact still remains.. it is possible. that is all that i am saying. like i mentioned before... the odds are LOW. Very LOW.. But, I already said that like 1000000 times... |
