I put 300lbs of sand bags in my Skyline.

And snow tires of course.

I don't think ballast is necessary in Vancouver weather.. 2WD pickups like Rangers etc maybe.. but RWD cars I don't think it is necessary.. just a full tank of gas and good winter tires you are good to go.

However I used to drive a 993 on the east coast during the dead of winter.. so perhaps you need a bit of practice too.
