pick-ups with empty cargo bed?

guys can you enlighten me, what's with all the pick up drivers on the street driving with their big ass pick ups but with empty cargo bed? now I uderstand some need it for work but 99% percent of the time I see them having a mere broom in the bed..a corolla could do the same. Couldnt they get a smaller truck? ie: ranger or tacoma.

are you looking at the same vehicle 99% of the time?
We've got a pickup and 25 days of the month the bed is empty, but the other 5 days the bed is completlely full along with a fully loaded utility trailer.
Other people get them for hitting the ski hills in the winter or towing boats (good luck towing a 20 something foot grady white with a ranger), it may not be in use every day, but its more economical than having 2 vehicles or renting one every time you need to move something (not to say some people dont really need trucks)

I didn't know there were that many pickups in taiwan. I consider myself better informed. Thanks OP!

I was thinking the same thing about cars just now. What is up with car drivers anyways? Every time I see them I always see 1 or 2 people in cars that seat 5 or more. I mean honestly, I am sure that some need them for moving more people around but 99% of the time I see them with only 1 or 2 people in them, a Miata or Scooter could do the same. Couldn't people get a smaller car like a smart car or even a scooter?
