There actually are a lot of chinese people in russia, in moscow there is a real full-out chinatown with like restaurants n shit.
There are vietnamese people too, haha you can find them at the flea markets.

Like many Americans, most Chinese locals have absolutely no clue what's going on outside their country/province. It's not their fault though, as the school system is a bit lacking.  When I went backpacking with a buddy (brown guy) through China, after the 50th time I stopped trying to explain that Canada isn't filled with natives. I just told them he was from India and I was from Hong Kong. That shut them up.
They (and I'm sure many other ethnic groups do too) really do immigrate based on blind dumb luck, or "word on the street". Be happy that our parents happened to pick Canada. Some pick not-so-lucky places like Swaziland and Madagascar. (I've met some Chinamen from those places )
