Unless he just took roadtest recently.
He needs to stop making post likes this until he actually gets some experience and knows what he's talking about.

Agreed

there is a doc fee on USED cars, not NEW.

honda does not make anymore performance cars?

TheSalesman 11-17-2009 02:11 PM

Civic SI and Accord coupe v6 would be it.
nothing RWD though.

godwin 11-17-2009 02:13 PM

You might have better luck on VanSky :haha:

I wouldn't consider them performance at all, they are economy and touring vehicles.

even though im driving the 996, more power , torque, everything is better "on paper" but the feel of the s2k wins.

the amount of fun i had with the car, even when i drove the z4 for couple months, it is a similar car but not as agile as the s2k sure its great to have the extra power and torque but nothing beats "spirited driving" when you want some thrill while driving

true, on paper the s2k is nothing special, but its one heck of a car, and if i could own a s2k again, i'd love to

insurance wasnt expensive as well, $3000 per year with 0% discount, its reliable, and it looks good
and gas mileage? it sure is better than my 996 :haha: mileage on the s2k wasnt all that bad when i had it... sure the gas guage went down a bit faster... but why wouldnt it? im hitting 9k when i get the chance to! :haha:

u can't compare the s2k with other cars like STi, EvoX, or supercars (ferrari etc.)
different class, different purpose

the feel of the s2k when you drive it, is far more enjoyable :haha:

interesting. are you comparing the s2k to the 996 both with stock suspension or was the s2k modified?

kchan 11-17-2009 06:31 PM

^
stock suspension

the s2k is just a fun car to drive, more fun with twisties

F22Cs are fail. AP2s are like neuteured AP1s, so much more understeery compared to the AP1s, the AP1s have soul, AP2s? hah

prior to buying my ap2 i test drove a few ap1s and also 04-05 ap2 that didnt have dbw or vsc. ap2s are definitely more usable everyday...ap1s are fun in its own right with a 9k bragging right redline but ap2s definitely have a modified 'soul'

The_AK 11-17-2009 11:26 PM

would love to own an s2k in the later years, bahh student budget!

once again, for sure you've never driven a ap2 before. opps I forgot you're still in high school, do you even know what a ap2 is?

Have you driven an ap2 hard or are you basing this off of what you've read on the interweb? When I was messing around on a g-circle, I only understeered once; every other time the tail stepped out. If that's considered "much more understeery" than an ap1 then I'm glad I made the right choice.

tofu1413 11-18-2009 12:30 AM

i've driven both ap1's and ap2's at work...

ap2's feel.. more refined ride wise.. i havent really taken it to its performance potential (i mean, those are customer cars!)

ap1's feel a bit sharper... overall chassis response wise.. hmm..

RabidRat 11-18-2009 02:15 AM

AP2's definitely feel nicer and more refined. I wouldn't necessarily say the AP2 is less fun to drive, but the AP1 does feel more raw and "focused" like someone said. And at the end of the day, that's what I prefer.

But hey, it looks nicer outside and in, the tranny is stronger, diff is stronger, it makes more power, torque is higher, gears are shorter and longer in all the right places, and you don't have to open the radio door to find out what time it is. =D

spoon.ek9 11-18-2009 07:39 AM

i really wish i had the money to afford a new s2k. definetly one of the best hondas ever built! being able to own a new and relatively unmolested one (damn lot boys) is a privelege.

fuck and the fuel economy rating 11.8L/100km, i thought hondas were supposed to be good on gas, a wrx is rated the same and weighs more with more power/torque and awd...

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

u know wats a bigger ripoff? lotus elise than, $80g for 130 pounds of torque, aint that a bitch eh?

true that

The car is about more than the sum of its parts (high rev, convertible) Its a focused and no compromise sports car in a market where its competition have fallen short to appeal to a wider market to make more money. Sure the S2000 is not a great success in terms of sales volume and I don't expect it to be. In terms of outright performance, it is not the best either. Not a lot of people can life with a 9000rpm track ready car everyday. It have enough torque for what its made to do, and that is on the track. Its the accumulation of all of Honda's CARTing experience and expertise put together in a street legal package so people who enjoy driving race cars can get a taste of it. If you think about it like that, $50,000 CAD is a bargain because arguably none of its rivals can do the same (350Z, TT, Z4, SLK,) I think many years down the road when people look back at this, they'll realize that this car is such a gift from Honda and sure to be missed.

amen to that, sad to see honda stops making real sport cars. Was really looking forward to their V10 NSX project to compete with Lexus/Nissan

:(

impactX 11-18-2009 05:20 PM

The S2k is pretty much the only Honda (other than bikes) that I'd buy. It's a street-legal gokart and it serves its purpose well! It pretty much destroyed the last generation of SLK and Boxster and the Z3.

Manufacturers make the cars way too bloated these days.

hk20000 11-18-2009 05:40 PM

sooooo...............how much is that new car? No options no tire levy, I'll add them when you tell me a price.

It's quite amazing to see an AP1 fanboy like you still exist, which is sad because it's such a shame to have conflicts within the S2000 family. The fanboiness of AP1 owners have died a long ago even on S2ki forum, and people have learned to respect the differences of each car.

Again, keep your opinion to yourself and quit bashing in the public. We all have different opinions, and also remember that it was also the opinion from the father of S2000, Uehara Shigeru, who said the AP2s are superior.

Aren't you the guy with Suzuka AP1? IIRC, you mumbled about you thinking that AP1 is a superior car after installation of SE exhaust on Taylor's car at Clement's place.

I do hope you expose the mad love for AP1 less as you're risking yourself offending other drivers since this is a local forum, unless it is what you're wishing to do. Nobody wishes to have beef with anyone and get their car burned down to the ground right?

TylerTL 11-19-2009 03:16 PM

i wish Honda would have just re-bodied the car or, even better, extended the wheelbase to make a rwd, hardtop 2+2 rather than just abandoning it completely. Why get rid of a good chassis? sad to see it go...

wasabisashimi 11-19-2009 03:51 PM

Saw a red S2 CR version in Victoria dealership
