Mercedes C-class coupe http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/res...rcedes_CLC.jpg http://www.boughtitonline.co.uk/cars...r_merc-clc.gif Mercedes is preparing to axe the CLC to make way for a new C-class coupe in 2011, Autocar can reveal. The C-Class coupe will be the second two-door based on the existing C-class but the first to take its name into production. Setto go on sale in the UK at the same time as facelifted versions of theexisting saloon and estate reach showrooms in early 2011, the newC-class coupe has been conceived to replace the CLK, discontinuedearlier this year after 12 years and two model generations. Theintroduction of the C-Class coupe spells the end for the CLC, a smallsports hatch that was only recently updated. Sources indicated themodel will be phased out and will be replaced by the new coupe. Theforthcoming two-door eschews a unique body shell and individual stylingthat made the CLK such a success for a comparatively upright look thatdraws heavily on the silhouette and detailing of its four door siblings. “Wewent back and studied what made our coupes so popular in the past. Ifyou look at some of the more successful two door models Mercedes-Benzhas produced you can see a direct relationship between them and theirfour door stable mates,” said an insider describing the new coupe’sappearance. Don’t expect the new Mercedes-Benz to have a verylong life, though. With engineering of the fourth-generation C-classalready underway at the German car maker’s R&D centre nearStuttgart, the new two door is planned to be sold for a maximum of fouryears before it is replaced by a much more curvaceous model that’slikely to follow the example of the CLS in boasting a more practicalfour door layout. The upcoming C-class coupe will be the secondtwo-door model to be based on today’s C-class. Unlike the E-classcoupe, however, the C-class version will not be modified and offered incabriolet guise. “We did look at an open top version but in theend the costs were too high given the short model life,” revealedAutocar’s source. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/244933/ |
why does it LOOK SO CHEAP. LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING HYUNDAI |
new c class front mashed with old gen c coupe rear nasty shit |
are those pics the pics of the CLC or the new coupe? |
wtf.. i thought the new c-class has different door panels and windows... that looks like a cheap facelift |
God, that looks awful. I was hoping that it would look as nice as the new E Class coupe but I guess that was asking for too much. And why does Mercedes still use the ugly chrome door trims???!!! Yes, I know it's to prevent door dings but the whole chrome trim crap went out in the 90's. |
these pictures were released many months ago  |
When will they release a E92-worthy competitor? I too, was hoping for a mini E-coupe.. That thing's an absolute piece of shit.. Why would anyone pick this over a MK6 GTI or even a E92 328i. Oh right, the c-lais that want the star badge.. |
looks like those cheap C compressor when they first got released into the market meh  |
While the C coupe as a new car made little sense the C coupe makes a whole lot of sense now after depreciation. a 2002 2.3L C230k goes for like 10,000CDN lol and then a pulley kit bumps the power up to like 230 240bhp. If you luck out you can get that bullet proof 6 speed manual to go with it. And then when you go and use it the hatchback configuration allows it to be versatile like an AE86 hatchback. Which is always welcome. Also the old C coupe looks special because amongst all the cars that carry that tristar badge this is the only wedge shaped thing with 2 doors. Overall I quite like the package but I really don't like the pricing. that's my 2 cents. |
Those pictures are of the CLC, the car that will be phased out. BTW, is there something wrong with the OP's copy and paste? I just did the same with the original article and I didn't get all the words scrunched together. |
This is old news, that car has been selling in Europe for awhile. |
It's old news that the current CLC is being discontinued for an all new C-Class coupe? Not to me. |
i guess no one read the article |
