Stargate Universe

So, nobody watching this?

Starting to see that it might be going somewhere... little foreshadowing of something deeper.

vexor 11-22-2009 11:28 AM

I watch it but it just doesn't feel as good as the previous 2 shows.

This one seems much more serious and there's no real comical characters like O'Neill in SG1 or McKay in Atlantis

murd0c 11-22-2009 11:36 AM

I've watched every single one so far and honestly I have only seen 2-3 good episodes so far. Of course it's leading onto something big hopefully.

Soundy 11-22-2009 12:27 PM

It's very different from the others, that's for sure. I heard it described somewhere as "Battlestar Galactica meets Lost".

I'll probably keep watching for TJ :)

murd0c 11-22-2009 12:56 PM

I just have it on record on my pvr so I catch the episodes. So far the one with getting the water from the ice planet has been the best I think.

Soundy 11-22-2009 12:59 PM

I have the PVR recording it too, but the sound is scratchy... so I'm downloading the HD eps :)

carisear 11-22-2009 01:05 PM

needs more uncensored lesbian sex.

the show is decent -- still needs more character development.

Crowtservo 11-22-2009 01:49 PM

I've never really watched any stargate shows (watched the movie and the odd episode on TV of SG1). I'm loving SGU. Mostly I'm banking on the fact that, as Soundy said, it seems like it's definitely going somewhere good.

Also while I agree the ice planet episode was good, I'd have to say the episode involving time travel from last weekend was the best. Unfortunately the episode from this week was just OK. I will definitely keep watching though.

Soundy 11-22-2009 04:53 PM

Yeah, I gotta re-watch the Time one a couple more times to wrap my head around it... ;)

If you look up the episode guides (or download the torrents), all the episodes are short, one-word titles.

You can always use more lesbian sex but it already has more than I expected lol.

I do agree about the character development. I made the same observation last episode but I think they are in this show for the long haul like the others so they aren't 'rush'ing (har har) to do things too quickly.

The fact that it's more serious makes it a better show. SG-1 and Atlantis were a joke. SG-1 was good, until RDA left, and the new guys came in. Then it sucked. Atlantis had some moments, but wasn't much either.

Fact is, dramas, like what SGU is, gets more viewers. I'm not interested in some stupid character firing off 1-liner jokes that aren't funny (eg: Vala & Mitchell from SG-1).

For comedic relief, SGU has Eli.

I think SGU has tons of potential. It's no BSG, but it's heading in the right direction.

catchy song haha. I loved it.

eddoe 11-25-2009 11:13 PM

Been watching SGU since it first started. It's okay right now, as someone mentioned the time traveling one was the best episode yet, everything else has been pretty sub-par. It's more BSG, the only thing I don't really like about the show so far is the use of the stones. It kind of ruins it for me though I am guessing it will be destroyed as the show continues since it seems like this is how they are developing the central characters.

Alatar 12-05-2009 03:50 PM

Last night's episode was good, I thought. Some more development of certain characters, others leaving the picture, quite likely not to return!

But... I think he's coming back. I mean, there's too much possibility...

oh for sure hes comming back, watch him team up with another race and for sure hes going to get what he found fixed and going

Skunk 12-17-2009 06:59 AM

i watched the first 3 episodes then gave up watching it was getting utterly boring, all the talking and hating on that doctor guy just ruins the hype..

i truely enjoyed watching the original SG1 and even atlantis spinoff but SG-U is a special case.

It's getting real good. Too bad we had to wait till the season's almost over for it to get exciting.

Spoiler!

I sense they're taking a lesson from Babylon 5 - first season, introduce everyone, set everything up, put all the set pieces in place, and then... everything hits the fan all at once and turns everything upside-down... and pretty soon you find out that the story they've been telling so far is only a little piece of the REAL story.

nns 06-04-2010 09:12 PM

I never watched Babylon 5 so I don't know if you're trying to say that would be a good thing or bad thing to happen to the show.

I suppose it would all depend on the execution.

OT, I really like how they shot the scenes back on Earth. Handy-cam style with realistic settings. Everything doesn't look so polished and perfect like how they used to shoot SG-1 and Atlantis.

carisear 06-04-2010 09:32 PM

i missed the 7pm show, watching it now.

and b5 was the greatest sci fi series of all time, so if it can live up to that, then it'd be a good thing :)

I agree on that one. It started slow but being a stargate fan from the beg I have watched every episode. Remember this is one of the longest running sci-fi shows right now and they know how to build a story line and take off. Also it help the series run longer since they can have more then one character story and different plot lines and twists.

Have you watched BSG? If Babylon 5 is better than BSG, then I'm going to go pirate it right now, if you say so.

murd0c 06-04-2010 09:42 PM

Yes I liked it more then BSG
