I like their quarter pounder blt and the angus burger line better than the mcrib..
The one I had had too much sauce.. The meat and sauce ratio is off.. There was enough sauce for 3 layers of meat.

why not getting a bbq sauce dip so you can control the amount of sauce? Just tell them easy on the sauce

3.99 similar price to costco (tho i think they increased it a bit)

at mcd u get fries equivalent to the amount of a small..... gravy sux, cheese is nothing special...

costco = huge, amazing gravy, only complaint is cheese needs to melt..

easy decision for me...

So how do I tell whether a McDonalds is franchised, vs run by McDonalds Inc.?

The reason why I ask is that whenever I ask for a McDouble "like a mac", some places insist that they charge for a double cheeseburger first before getting it "like a mac". An example of such a place would be the McDonalds on 72nd and King George. But doing the same thing at head office and a few other places, I pay for the McDouble.

I've asked for managers when the place wasn't busy citing that head office charges for a McDouble before adding the "like a mac" grill. But they insist that it's restaurant policy to charge a double cheeseburger.

Not that 60 cents means much to me. I was just curious why it isn't standardized across the board.

There are way more franchise restaurants than there are McOpCo in general. McOpCo in past few years have been selling off ones in Vancouver (Granville, Davie, and most recently the new TV towers/central library just to name a few) and slowly shifting development towards Surrey (you can probably guess why).

As far as I know there are quite a number of McOpCo in Surrey but that one is a franchise I think. They don't care what you say really... and the head office McD is McOpCo so that could be why.

Franchises are pretty cheap and want to save money... also food cost among other things (bonuses). Cheese is expensive too.. I guess. Just different policies for different management. Private operators rack in $$$$ like crazy, like Andy Bates and Joe Guzzo.

After thinking about it, I could be wrong...

I do recall receiving mass emails that go out to all the McOpCo stores and there were quite a number of them... so it actually could be the other way around. There are numerous owner/operators in the GVRD and they all have a cap on the amount of restaurants they can own (11 I think)

What I should have said actually is exclusively in Vancouver there are more franchises than McOpCo; however, most of them are the lower volume stores. It makes no sense for McOpCo to sell off their $$$ stores (unless they gradually become less profitable, or operations/management goes to shit, beyond return). I think the majority of the stores east of the Fraser are McOpCo though and still developing.

I think the rule of thumb is if its a low volume, shitty looking store its usually a franchise. Best way is to look at the uniforms the people that are working are wearing (but franchises are slowly catching up now).

McOpCo is developing more towards east of the Fraser... I know that for sure (transferring better people over to run the stores)

I miss the twist softserve, I miss chocolate soft serve, there was a time when some franchise locations still had it, but no more.

The only issue I have with McDonalds is consistency. For all the flak that Starbucks gets for being all yuppie and pretentious, they aim for consistency, and if it's not, you just need to mention it and they redo it.

I've had diabetes-sweet to bitter-burnt at Mcdonalds. So I just stick to their coffee, which I still think is better than Starbucks and Tim Hortons. So good and so hot.
