lol, sounds like he killed your dog but yeah that's what i mean once you actually start speaking with him he's pretty cool.. but as with any academic they're a little bit of an asshole at the beginning and then they open up |

BTW, most of these "scientists" in suits aren't really scientists.. more like politicians talking a good game. Cuz that's what they do. Throw out factoids and talk out their ass. |

Damn, I guess people need to go fix their Sarcasm detector. I hope it's still under warranty. |

You guys should all read State of Fear by Michael Crichton. One of his best books, and it deals with the kind of bullshit the environmentalist groups are into. It's really good. |
Exactly the reason why I keep 2 55gallon barrels of diesel burning in my backyard 24/7. |

I took ecology at UBC and my prof said people do not give the earth enough credit. he said, "The earth is one resilient mother fucker". He actually swore. He also said that there is no significant data that humans have cause/changed anything significant in our climate. he also, said that global warming is a joke. Where this is also no significant data to implicate that we're doing anything to make the earth warmer... 65 million years ago, when the dinosaurs ruled the earth, the mean temperature was about 15-20 degrees C higher... the earth goes through cycles.. this is what i learned... he said there are too many people who think they know what is going on and and have a grasp of how the world works... We can't even accurately predict the weather... This is just what i learned.. it seems pretty logical to me. but nothing is for certain.. |
What I wanna kno is who were the idiots arguing with me about this topic a few months ago? Also, to everyone saying humans don't effect the climate, where the hell were u when I was flame waring on this?? Posted via RS Mobile |

LOL I remember Dick Suzuki was on the radio saying "why waste clean and purified water on your lawn?" my answer is "coz if I don't fucking use it it's going to go back into the sea? Or do you want me to pee into the lawn instead?" Is he realistically thinking about building water pipes around half the globe or something and feed the water to 3rd world countries? US buys our water yes, but we are still having way too much water for our population, just drive around a bit. |
It sounds like fox news in here. People are just throwing out talking points and opinions seemingly based on nothing. I realize some people are being sarcastic but it seems others believe they know what they are talking about. The only controversy is how fast the climate is changing and what implications that will have. You're right mx703, "the earth is one resilient mother fucker". Unfortunately humans are not and it is more likely the earth will adapt and live on and humans will die out (no I'm not saying this is what is going to happen). The greenhouse effect is fact. The amount of change we have experienced is measurable. The amount of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions (carbon, methane, sulfur etc.) is measurable. The uncertainty is what effect other factors (cloud libedo, surface radiation, how much carbon the oceans can absorb) will have. We're not going to see some catastrophic 2012 type event but you can't argue the fact that the earth is, and will continue to, change. If people want to have an intelligent conversation about it I'm happy to but don't just repeat stuff you hear on the news or from others. Research and decide for yourself. If you want some good scientific reports (not the political garbage) to read I have many good sources for you. Oh and I wrote a term paper on carbon tax vs cap and trade (emissions trading) and I can tell you it isn't "bullshit" but the politics supporting it might be. |
This is Revscene. On top of that, this is the off-topic section. A place where people hang out and shoot the bull.......... Honestly, what did you expect? Term paper, huh? Nuff said.......... god bless |

Honestly I expected remotely intelligent remarks. Your last comment implies that my input should be somehow discounted as it was only a "term paper" even though it was for my environmental sciences minor at university. It's a topic I'm passionate about and certainly know more about than you so i hardly think you are entitled to scoff at my experience. |
