I guess that hypocrite should not water his lawn too then,he should also not flush the toilet while he's at it or wash the food before he eats it or take showers/baths or wash his expensive car.

I cannot imagine living next door to a person like David Suzuki.I would probably tell him to "go fuck yourself" within a week of living next door to him.

You sure about that? I've done my share of term papers, too. Albeit 30 years ago. Anyway, god bless............

Edit: sorry to make light of your passion and minor in Environmental Sciences. I have degrees from both UBC and SFU and I wouldn't take kindly to people making light of my studies.

Thank you and it was unfair of me to assume I knew more about the subject than you. My original comments were not intentionally directed at you, mostly at spyker haha.

I disagree, care to explain?

To start, go read any criticisms you can find of the Kyoto Protocol

the nobel prize pin is a joke, because he got some group to correct their findings and that group went on to get a nobel prize (cant remember the name of the group but that group got the nobel prize for preaching global warming)

and he's a "hereditary peer" his father was a viscount and his father, unlike "life peers" who are appointed their rank and cannot pass it on. and everyone who has such a rank is automatically in the 'house of lords'

I got a question for you guys

if global warming as you claim is not real, then why is it that the glaciers are melting? the second part of my question is, what is going to happen when the glaciers melt?

CallTransOpt 11-25-2009 11:10 PM

From my limited-knowelge,

1, We are supposed to be in an inter-glaical period. ( if you have never seen this before, try bing/google it)

2, The earth has been without any glaciers for a number of times. In contrast, they were also evidences that the earth was at least at one point completely covered by snow. ( SNOWBALL earth, again, try to look it up. )

That's what I have learnt at UBC, Don't blame me. Blame D.Suzuki.lol

lol... this is why i declined to originally make the same post that OP did.. this is RS

i personally dont believe that we are causing global warming single handedly

Also keep in mind that while some glaciers are melting, many are growing. Either way, we can't be blamed for it.

ZhangFei 11-26-2009 01:34 AM

growing? wtf?

I think humans have SOME effect on the environment. With all our garbage landfills, our polluting or diverting lakes and rivers, chopping down trees, oil spills.... you can't say that these man-made disasters doesn't impact on the environment at all. I think there is some effect, but I'm not sure exactly how much.

Regardless, it ain't good anyways.

You have to realize how absolutely insignificant humans are in the grand scheme of things. We are so incredibly minute and useless, the only beings that think human life is of any consequence are other humans.

We're just a bunch of beings thriving in an environment that happens to be right for us at this short point in the planet's history. It wasn't always like this, and it won't be like this forever. Nothing we do has changed that, one way or the other.

Some are growing, some are melting. Don't buy into the propaganda.

JKam 11-26-2009 07:37 AM

polluting lakes/rives does not equal global warming. Thats fucking up the lake, not making the glaciers melt

Not nearly as bad as the huge tour bus he travels around in. For someone who preaches global warming and cutting down on green house gases ect maybe he could start himself if he wanted to be taken seriously.

Global warming...not a big deal. Global pollution...BIG DEAL. Our oceans are filling up with plastic...not the best for fish/animals that live in it. Never mind the oil spills and oil run-off from our streets. Then the one I'm wondering about... How many nuclear powered submaines are sitting at the bottom of the ocean just corroding away waiting to let all that nice shit into the ocean? That'll be nice :)

Either way humans are fucking the planet whether or not global warming exists. Good job everyone  (myself included) LOL

If he was so concerned about the earth and greenhouse gases,he should be biking everywhere, not driving or riding in anything that has a internal cumbustion engine.

He should also convert his home to run on solar and windpower to power all his electrical appliances,I wonder if his stove, hot water heater and furnace all run on natural gas?

Shit,I think he should not even wear glasses, considering what it took to make them, the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere to make the steelframes and the glass lense.

I wonder if he has a problem with money too(although he has millions of it),cuase you know, you gotta gut down trees to make paper bills and melt steel, releasing toxic fumes into the air to make the coins.

Yes. Glaciers can grow in size, if the snow accumlation rate exceeds snow Ablation rate.

http://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/Graphics-...h/longsect.gif

Diverting lakes and rivers could alter the local climate, but not to a gobal scale.
See Aral Sea.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._1989-2008.jpg

The Aral sea is only 5% of its formal size. Surrounding areas have been observed to be colder in winter and hotter in the summer.

Just a thought, I remembered some stupid newspaper article a few years ago were saying the gobal sea level is going to raise for 10m by 2020 or something.

What a Scam :D~

Honestly I expected remotely intelligent remarks.

Your last comment implies that my input should be somehow discounted as it was only a "term paper" even though it was for my environmental sciences minor at university. It's a topic I'm passionate about and certainly know more about than you so i hardly think you are entitled to scoff at my experience.

...if you've been here for 5+ years you should know who you're arguing against. and he's far more qualified than you are.
