I'm super bummed that there was no Porsche!
I was so amped to get ready and purchase a Carrera GT and then I was like "wtf I can't even find the Porsche logo" ... then I went back on the computer to google it... I never really kept up with the articles of GT5 except the release date ... but I can't believe they couldn't get the license for Porsche ... I just automatically lost about 20% interest in this game because of that ... not that the game itself is that great ... I think I overhyped it myself

^I'm not sure where it is for testing but if u go to special events you'll see it

Honestly the collision stuff is a stupid fat rip... I hit my prius into a wall twice and it's 13k... they show scratches sometimes, it's always in the same spot. I thought this game would actually show damage? Or was that only with the nice cars?

Are there any mods to get G27 working with xbox? haha

I guess its give and take better game for better wheel haha. Looked into the fanatec turbo S but I guess they are sold out since they are limited editions
You won't beable to mod a g25/g27 to work an xbox because the xbox requires a certain driver inorder for it to work >.< That's why for sf4 the arcade sticks could be modded to work with both xbox and ps3 IF the stick was a xbox stick to begin with.

I agree with people on forza 3 > gt5, but the only reason I'm choosing gt5 over forza 3 is because I can actually play with my steering wheel, whereas the xbox wheel kinda sucks when I had one a year ago...

Man this has to be the most uneven experience ever. The whole standard vs premium thing is a travesty and some of the tracks just look god awful... 2D sprites... come on.

At its best it's a great looking game but at its worse, it can't even beat Forza 2. And wtf is with all the screen tearing?

The AI is still dumb as hell. Seems like they still follow their "lines" and just knock away everything in their path.

I was hoping the GT team would take notice of what Forza has done too... the UI in GT5 is terrible. The in-game HUD is so cluttered and ugly compared to Forza which is way more minimalist. Things are terribly laid out, not user-friendly at all, and the loading between menus, ugh. At least the menus look pretty I guess.

I'd give this game a 7.5 or 8/10. If this game came out around the PS3 launch or within a year or two, it probably would've impressed me but Forza and even NFS Shift just did so much more to advance their games since GT4.

An update is coming on Saturday/Sunday for an online fix that will improve singleplayer and multiplayer:

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/8170.html
Quote:
So Gran Turismo 5 doesn't have enough to offer offline; everyone has to go and clog up the online servers immediately?

Well, all that traffic is causing problems for the GT5 servers. Sony just made mention of the congestion and what you can do to combat any issues; Eurogamer posted the notice and a few additional comments Sony made within the in-game GT5 news feed. While they work on things, they ask you to do the following:

"Because GT5 performs online access not only when participating in online races and using community features, but also when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode, unfortunately this online congestion is also affecting standard gameplay.

Currently we are simultaneously working on several different solutions to improve the network status and alleviate the network congestion as soon as possible. We are expecting to be able to provide a proper online service again soon. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience."

In addition, we have learned they'll be providing us with the first patch on Saturday. GT creator and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi told Eurogamer that they've received quite a few demands and suggestions for online fixes, and the developers will waste no time in responding:

"We received a lot of demands for having more regulations placed on the online play. We're going to perform an update on the 27th that will include things like max power restrictions and weight restrictions.

It's like a living creature, dynamically growing as we speak."

This update will "refine the usability of the game to make it a better experience," which is really what we want from all big patches, right? Yamauchi adds that it'll be "hard to find an end to the process," what with GT5 being so freakin' big and so freakin' popular. So for the time being, or at least until the weekend, maybe you should just focus on offline stuff...you know, there's quite a bit to do.
Other articles also mentioned Kazunori Yamauchi stating that there will be regular updates for GT5.

fck I was just about to head out grab an Xbox and Forza 3 on the weekend, I'm itching to compare, never played Forza before, been doing GT for long as I can remember, little bit of GTR2 for the PC, but I wanted to find out what I been missing with Forza..

the only wheels that work for the xbox is the microsoft one, and the fanatecs wheel
all the logitech wheels DO NOT support the xbox... thats why for me atm gt5 > forza 3

BUT if logitech some how releases an update for the g25/g27 that would make it compatible for the xbox, then im off to buy a g27 LOL and play forza 3

I really would like the option to modify the cars exterior and have it extend further than just wheels and a spoiler like in GT, does Forza offer body kit customization ??

Yes I tried it last night, I love how you can use SLR camera settings to adjust how you want the photo to be taken. But the exporting failed last night, I don't know if it was just a GT5 glitch or I was doing something wrong.

I know it gave a size warning when I exported last night, at least 500mb. I wonder if it has something to do with that.

What I didn't realize is that you can go into photomode anywhere, even replays!, great for action shots.

i feel the same

if this came out when ps3 first got launched i would rate it higher. BUt waiting 3 years after ps3 got introduced? prior to that they started developing this game shortly after GT4 was released which combines a total of 5 years

yet, the game is inconsistent, especially the graphics

Apparently that's only for Arcade mode. I heard that you could transfer cars from GT5P so I grinded for an hour or two to buy some nice cars and you can transfer them to the game. I was annoyed to say the least

Edit: anyone else have issues with the initial installation? I had to restart the game 8 times and it gets stuck at 35 seconds still, seems pointless to install the game as it loads for a minute before everything

I have yet to find something I like more about gt5 than fm3. Forgoing precious midterm studying time for it haha

I guess used cars? :/ even then they give u a shitty used car that costs 15k to fix and might as well buy new lol

Anyone think the tire squeal to understeer ratio is a little high?

Even the interiors were done better in fm3
Seriously there better be a Gt5.5 free upgrade...

Funny how im gonna go get a Microsoft wheel now that gt5 sucks... It's tremendous bang for the buck eh? Costs less than...gt5 on craigslist lol

I like the art style in GT5 better. Cars look a lot more realistic than Forza. Forza has this slight cartoonish colouring/look to their cars. Forza could also use more cars that aren't high-end... but I guess most people don't really want to drive Camry's and Accord's in a game.

Omg yes, if I cut someone off I get slammed and go sideways, although it only happens to me with RWD cars, not too far into the game yet but, I'm enjoying it. Wish I didn't get the collectors edition though.
