Stupid things we used to do when we were young and had nothing better to do. You fooled around with your girlfreind in the parking lot and then scared the shit out of her. I knew every inch of Stanley Park. Knew all the best parking spots, including the off road spots.

Anyway, gotta stop telling old stories........... I wanna get back my youth, Bob Sagget!

Oh please do tell the "fooling around with girlfriend in parking lot" story!!!

Well, my opinion on this matter is, *shrug*.

As long as they don't blind me with their highbeams, I'm good. If they choose to see LESS in the dark, that's their decision and not mine. It will be their problem if the suddenly swerve into the ditch because they noticed obstruction in the middle of the road a little later than if their headlights were on.

As OP said, it may be that newer cars have lighted gauge clusters regardless of the headlights. My dad's MDX has that too. I find it pretty neat actually. You would think they would have the "Auto" headlights as well.

I could care less if they end up in a ditch or a pole, but what piss me off is their tailights aint on. And if their tailights aint on its dangerous for the ppl thats driving behind them. You wont see the car until you are really close, and on a poor visibility days aka snow fog or rainny day its really a hazard for others

On old volvo's you can leave them on, and if you take out the annoying as fuck buzzer its easy to forget they're on when you leave the car

Ok, I just got home. I parked and proceeded to check if there were cars coming, no cars, so i open my door and get out. As im shutting the door, this fuckign dumbass piece of shit audi driver is racing down my street with NO headlights, NO drls, NO fogs or high beams or wtf else kinda lights are on a car. Its dark outside, the street lamps are semi burnt out. He slams on his brakes, but not cause he saw me, cause he passed his buddies house. So he reverses back a house and takes a look at the house, then zips towards the alley driveway while ON HIS PHONE. Fucking prick. No lights whatsoever. I almost dropped my subway cause of him. And i would have been pissed.

It's not even only for their own safety. It's so that cars around them can see them as well in the dark. Have you ever noticed how it's more difficult to gauge where a car's position is in your side view mirrors when they have one headlight broken behind you?

Inaii 11-30-2009 08:36 PM

Or you mistake them for a motorcycle...

monkeywrench 11-30-2009 08:44 PM

my family's 01 toyota has automatic headlights/tail lights at night, i don't see why manufacturers implement this in newer cars... something similar to audi's "automatic" switch for headlights

Well if its a dark road and the guy with the busted headlights is the only car behind you then yeah, i would understand its probably hard to tell what the guy is doing behind you. But theres usually more cars than that on the roads.

Yeah that should be a standard feature these days.
