Tacoma: Four Officers Ambushed and Shot Dead

Quote:
TACOMA, WASHINGTON - Four police officers have been shot in killed in what's being described as an ambush killing near Tacoma, Washington. The killings happened in the community of Parkland, just south of Tacoma.

The officers were inside a crowded coffee shop working on laptop computers, when two men armed with guns stormed inside.

Reporter Rich Lyons is with News1130's Seattle affiliate KOMO NEWS RADIO. "We're hearing two suspects came in. Fired many shots. All four officers were killed. They're now calling this a targeted attack and an ambush."

More than 100 police cruisers and a canine team are searching the area for the two suspects. The area around the coffee shop remains cordoned off. Keep it on News1130 as we'll bring you the very latest as the story develops.

Wow, that's brazen.

Yesterday, I was at the Esso at Kingsway and Victoria Drive and there were seven police officers inside there doing a pow wow to decide where to go for dinner.

Good thing News 1130 is mainly radio news, because their written work is atrocious.

Cop Killers. They are definitely going to get it up the ass big time. I'd be surprised if any of them make it into custody, if caught.

^^ This.

What would make 2 people hunt and kill 4 armed cops, together in a public place? Crazed gunmen? Just for the thrill of it? Gangbangers seeking revenge?

Naw, there's gotta be more to this story.

Apparently a Seattle cop was shot dead last month. The cop was parked on the side of the street wrapping up a traffic stop. Some car pulled up beside the parked cop car, and fired shots into the cop car. The officer was shot dead.

TACOMA, WASHINGTON - Four police officers have been shot and killed in a busy coffee shop in what's being described as an ambush killing near Tacoma, Washington. The killings happened in the community of Parkland, just south of Tacoma at around 8:15 a.m.

The three men and one woman from the Lakewood detachment, were killed as they sat working on their laptops, when the gunman stormed inside.

Police are now looking for just one suspect, but they do have a pretty good description of the gunman. A $10,000 reward has already been offered.

Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department says it's still very early in the investigation. "We don't know what happened as far as how many shots were fired or what has happened, whether they were able to shoot back. We're not going to be able to know that until we do a reconstruction on it. We do know none of the employees or witnesses were hurt, they are with us and all fine." Police are canvassing the area and are interviewing witnesses.

A white pick-up truck possibly connected to the incident was loaded onto a flatbed truck, but investigators are releasing few details.

More than 100 police cruisers and a canine team are searching the area. The area around the coffee shop remains cordoned off. Keep it on News1130 as we'll bring you the very latest as the story develops.
news1130 says gunmAn... single shooter now.
