umm, they are tourists, not immigrants. there is a big difference.
and thats IF they can get a travelling visa. not everyone can attain one to travel the world let alone travel to hk itself. the ones that do get them, generally are wealthier and if they so choose to visit canada, that means they will be spending their money in canada. Quote:

Mainlanders are the only people I have ever seen come out of a LV/Prada/Gucci store with multiple bags of merchandise.
Or bet $2000 on a single hand of baccarat, and playing at 4 tables at the same time.
Absolutely horrible social manners, but no other country can boost your economy from tourism as much as China can right now.

Well at least while I was in GZ they kept playing these ads on TV trying to teach ppl social etiquette...
