I took a look at Strava and it looks like everyone got some decent rides in this weekend!
I had a great solo ride from Squamish to Whistler on Friday. The next day, my GF had the idea of wanting to ride Whistler to Pemberton and back to Whistler. She's a novice rider, her biggest ride was about 70-80km's which was Richmond>UBC>Stanley Park>UBC>Richmond, and most elevation gained was about 700-800 meters. The longest hill she's done is Spanish Banks, or Cambie street climb from Marine Drive...
So we set out from Whistler and head to Pemberton. We make it there pretty quickly as it was mainly downhill. LOL... So you know what that meant... It was all UPHILL coming back... 33 km's of uphill, grades ranging from 0% to 12%. Not to mention the 15km headwind the entire way back!!
2km's into the 33km's coming back, my GF yelled out that she was cramping really badly in her stomach. We're mid climb in a steep section with the road curving, the shoulder of the road's gone and shes not able to continue. So there we are, standing in the middle of a single lane highway, in the blind curve of the road... I get her to walk uphill for a bit to a safer spot. We chilled out for a few minutes, get some water in us. She stretches out for a minute. At that point, I'm thinking "DAMN... we're only 2km's into this 33km ride back to Whistler, we're so fucked. I'm gonna have to ride back by myself, grab the car, drive back here while shes waits at the side of the road???".
Anyways... she ends up toughing it out. We rode together and paced it back to Whistler. We stopped a fair amount because the distance and grades were just too much for her.
In the end though, she felt really good about herself. She was able to make it all the way back. I was really proud of her too, and pretty damn impressed! I'm not sure what to compare that ride to... Probably like doing Cypress Mountain two or three times back to back. The real zinger was the headwind...
[edit] Forgot to mention, on the way to pemberton, around the same area where my gf cramped out coming back, we passed by a coyote on the side of the road. At first we thought it was a dog, but the ears and the long face and legs!! It was no more than 5 meters away from us when we rode by. So b/c of the spotting, my gf was having a mental freakout while dealing with a cramp lol.
I've been having knee pains as well when pushing hard on longer rides. Hoping after a fit it goes away. I've also read it can be caused from mashing on the pedals rather then a nice consistent power stroke all the way around. Posted via RS Mobile

For me so far, it's mashing on the pedals as opposed to a consistent power stroke.

did a long-ish ride saturday morning with a buddy and now i'm still fighting a mean mean cold. feels bad bro.
anyways, sorta disappointed after checking my strava after. As we got into stanley park we tagged along the back of the "Fast track Autobody" team. After a bit their lead group decided to break off at a faster pace so i did too maintaining a pace of 30-35 all the way. Feeling really good approaching the prospect point climb i decided to attack and broke from the group hoping to set a new PR. so i get up and feel like i should have smashed my record but when i check strava....6min 20 seconds?! wtF!
i did notice my speedo periodically dropped and lingered around 6km/h for a portion of the climb for no reason, then it would spike back up to the 20's. i don't think cloud cover would affect the gps that much though?
yea my garmin500 did that too, went for 4 laps and only had 3 PP climbs, but 4 descent speed check, so it registered i came down 4 times but went up 3 times LOL.
maybe because the 2nd time i went all the way to the bus stop at PP and then went back to the bridge to camwhore

The trees at Stanley Park hinder GPS and cell signal reception. There isn't a whole lot you can do about it so it will skew your results. Posted via RS Mobile

I think both. Complete bicycles are one tax only. (Not sure of which one.)
Sorry to hear man. That is pretty homo. If the seller was Amazon, you should have no problem dealing with them. It's just that the shipping and time cost is what hurts.

It depends on the officer, I think. I got only 5% PST on my bike accessories (lights, locks etc) from The Clymb when I brought my bike across the border but that may be because it was together with the bicycle. What wheels are those, by the way?
to add to that, complete bikes and built wheels are dutiable if not made in north America. But other bike parts and components are duty free even if made overseas. If you are improperly taxed and dutied, you can fill out a form and submit your receipts with cbsa and they will mail you a cheque back.
Sucks to be stoked and excited for new parts only to have them come in damaged. that's part of the risk with buying parts cheap online and not physically from a Brock and mortar shop unfortunately.
