That's a lot of bottles. I guess you're not stopping during the Gran Fondo tomorrow?

Yea no stops. Last year I did it with two bottles, but ran out of water at the 100km mark. It was a painful 26kms as I cramped in both legs but still finished in 4hrs.

I hope this year I can hammer it all the way for a sub 3hr40min time

Are you running gatorade in both? Or just water?

I'm thinking one water one gatorade for me. I do plan to stop at salt shed.

2 gaterade 1 water. Tomorrow will be 30degrees plus in whistler. Prepare for carnage lol. Was talking to folks the last time it was that hot during the fondo in 2012, tons of ppl layed out on the side of the road cuz of heat exhaustion.

Hope you guys been hydrating the last week!

Fondo ready now! Time for food and sleep!

Arg, I'm disappointed with my result. I did it in 5 hours 3 minutes, which is only 10 minutes better than last year, despite way more training. . There seemed to be a really strong head wind.

Don't be disappointed with the time you got. Because of the head wind the whole way there, even the pros finished 20mins slower than last year. I bet if you look at your overall place you did better this year.

Last year I came 435 with a time of 4hrs5mins.

This year I came in 160, with a time of 4hrs8mins.

There were a lot of crashes this year. I saw two in front of me, and heard one happen behind me. Others also said the same. Some ppl ate it bad on the descents.

The third water bottle did me no good. I still cramped but not as bad as last year. I can attribute it to putting out too much effort for too long, and just blowing out your legs. Happened at the same KM... In around 80-90 kms.

Highlight of the day?. Wheel sucking Alex Steida for 15kms until I just couldn't hang. He was wearing google glass and recording vids while riding. Nice guy!

Next year goal, top 100

That's true, I finished better position wise than last year.

Even with the headwind, the top finisher did it alone in 3:17. Crazy. I want the drug he's having!!

^I'm assuming you picked that up at Caps in Port Moody. I'm curious, were you allowed to take it out for a spin/try different sizes?

When I went they said you can only purchase online/pick up in store - no trying sizes/test riding.

I actually price-matched with giant Vancouver store in West 4th.

I called before-hand to see if they would price-match with caps. They said yes, went back the next day to try out different sizes.. Bought the bike!!

It came with full warranty, crash warranty, fitting in a month, 1 major tune up in first year and free lifetime minor tune up.. All for 979 before tax!

Ah ok thanks!

I called Giant Vancouver and they didn't have the size I'm looking for... that's a great deal you got with the warranty/service.

Try calling other giant dealers! See if they can price-match.

I also called village bicycle in steveston. They were willing to price-match but they didn't have my size.

Thanks for the link. What size did you end up getting if you don't mind me asking?

I'm looking at an XS or S for my girlfriend. I could go for the Avail, but that would mean I couldn't get the 105 groupset unless I pony up the extra $.

I am 5'9 31" inseam. medium fits me perfectly. Will have to go back to fine-tune the fitting.

Giant Vancouver had a defy 3 size small which I tried out. (Just to compare S to M sizes)

Speaking of which, any of you have extra working U-locks, cable/chain locks that you're not using anymore? I'm looking to buy!! Or we can trade if I have something you want!!
PM me with what you have and your asking price.
