Can't tell, I checked yesterday and the link was invalid and checked today and the link is gone. Chances are it was either stolen or was a good enough deal that someone picked it up immediately.

It was a BMC GrandFondo GF01 "Demo" unit, I guess it was a local bike shop clearing it out.

My search continues.

What you guys recommend for more advanced road bikes, budget under 10K.

Dura Ace / Ultegra Di2? Carbon wheel set etc.

you can check out local bike shop called "veloholics" by fraser and 41
they can custome build your bike and pay attention to detail

I called there looking to do some homework on a set of Enve wheels that a guy had bought there a few months earlier. They didn't seem to know squat about warranty or servicing the $4,000 wheels that they sold... Their Facebook page shows a ton of insane dollar beautiful bikes but I didn't get even the tiniest bit of confidence that I would spend any money there. Just my $0.02.

I have tried to give my business over and over to Caps as they are closest to my house but the guys at Speed Theory just seem to be worth the drive for me. The bike fit that Tom at Speed Theory did after I bought my bike was worth the price of admission alone.

8K and above dura-ace di2 is more or less guaranteed to be the groupo included in any top shelf bike. 13k can get you a venge vias. Azncreationz posted a link of it and told me to get it a few pages back but dat price

I was actually there on the weekend. That morning of, someone told me about that bike shop and i had no idea it existed. Afternoon came and a totally different buddy took me there. Turns out he bought over over 5 groupos from there, assembled over 8 bikes and all of his bikes were 10k + bikes all from that shop.

I gotta do some more research on that store I guess.

The Scott Foil is pretty awesome but that is if you can even get one. They are flying off the shelves these days. A lot of pro teams are riding them now so the brand awareness is at an all time high. A few years ago? People would laugh at a Scott bike.

Recommendations on roof mounted bike racks? I already have cross bars, so just looking for the bike rack part. Looking to buy a matching pair.

The ones that require you to take off the front wheel are out of the question for me, as my bike has disc brakes.

Should I be sticking to the main brands? Thule/Yakima? Thanks!

I have a Thule Paceline 527 and a Yakima Forklift on my roof rack. Both use the factory cross bars and are quite secure. However, yes, both require front wheel to be removed. I understand if you have disc brakes that some racks won't work, but something like the Yakima Viper or Thule Outride will accept most disc brakes. Or you can get something like the Thule Criterium, which you won't have to remove the front wheel. Yes, I think you should stick with Thule/Yakima as they've been around for a quite a while now.
With that said, I still mainly use my hitch mounted rack to carry my bikes, as it's easier not to have to lift it up over my head, and also because I'm paranoid about driving under anything with minimal clearance. The roof racks are pretty much my spares if I ever need to transport that many bikes.

I have both a Thule Sidearm and a Thule Criterium. The sidearm is nice as nothing touches the frame of the bike, even better for disc brake bikes as there is no brake by the fork when the arm comes into contact. With that being said, in use, I like using the criterium more because of how easy it is to move the arm and it just seems to be a slightly quicker process, both when installing the bike, and installing it (the rack) to the crossbars.

A question on climbing techniques. For a climb like prospect point at Stanley Park, when do you determine is best to ride off of the saddle or back on?

Of course you can ride the entire climb off of the saddle

I ask this because off of the saddle, while the pedal stroke is stronger my cadence suffers and I end up slower. Staying on the saddle, with high cadence I keep a high speed for the climb.

Whats your opinion?

i think the idea is to adjusting your gearing so that while your cadence is slower, you're pushing a higher wattage to maintain (or increase) speed

that said, i usually get off the saddle around the first bend.

I power up every hill I can in my saddle to train. For hills I'm in my saddle until I can't handle the gradient. I can usually rip up hills quick, it's the downhills on the single gear that I get outpaced by guys with 52/11 ratios to my 48/16

I'm pretty sure you can outpace those guys with 34/28,32 ratios uphill on your 48/16

Thanks for the responses, I've been trialing different methods of climbing techniques.

A guy I was riding with, attacked prospect hill off the saddle for the entire climb, he ended with a low 3:00 minute climb.

I try starting at the same pace off the saddle, but my heart rate gets to high and when I am back on the saddle by the second turn I am close to passing out...
